US billionaire sees Zelensky’s 'victory plan' leading to third world war

David Sacks said hopefully Joe Biden can remember why he has rejected the points of the Ukrainian president’s plan

NEW YORK, September 23. /TASS/. Silicon Valley billionaire David Sacks maintains that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s plan to put an end to the Ukraine conflict would lead to a third world war.

"Zelensky is in the US to present his much hyped 'Victory Plan' to [US] President [Joe] Biden. What does this consist of? 1) [Kiev’s] immediate admission to NATO. 2) long-range missile strikes. In other words, WWIII," Sacks wrote on his page on X.

The US investor said hopefully Biden can remember why he has rejected both points of Zelensky’s plan.

Earlier, Zelensky announced that he has a certain plan to end the conflict. At the same time, he put the responsibility for implementing it on Biden. Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that there was no point in commenting on Zelensky’s statements anymore.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has noted that Ukraine is unable to strike deep inside Russia without Western assistance, as it needs satellite reconnaissance and flight tasks to do so. The Russian leader has also said that NATO countries are not just debating about the potential use of Western long-range weapons by Kiev but that they are deciding whether or not to get involved in the Ukraine conflict directly. Putin emphasized that Moscow would make decisions based on the threats that would be posed to Russia.

Biden, Zelensky to discuss strikes inside Russia — White House

According to National Security Council Spokesman John Kirby, US President has not made a policy change on topic

NEW YORK, September 24. /TASS/. US President Joe Biden plans to discuss the possibility of strikes with US weapons deep inside Russia when meets with his Ukrainian counterpart Vladimir Zelensky at the White House on September 26, US National Security Council Spokesman John Kirby said.

"The president has been consistent that our policy is that long range strike capabilities provided by the US are not to be used against targets in Russia. He has not made a policy change on that. He's still in the same place. That's the guidance that we have provided to Ukraine. We understand that they have asked for that to be changed," he said at a news conference for international reporters. "I'm sure the issue will come up. But he has not changed his view that the use of US weapons, long range weapons, against targets in Russia is prohibited."

Russian President Vladimir Putin told reporters on September 12 that Ukraine is unable to deliver strikes inside Russian territory without Western assistance because it needs satellite intelligence and flight input data to do so. According to the president, the current debate among NATO countries is not just about Kiev's potential use of Western long-range weapons, but they are also essentially making a decision whether to get directly involved in the Ukrainian conflict. Putin said Moscow would respond to threats that would be created for Russia.

Russia’s position on potential Western strikes explicitly outlined by Putin — Kremlin

MOSCOW, September 24. /TASS/. Moscow’s position regarding Washington and London’s potential authorization to use Western-supplied weapons for strikes inside Russia has been outlined by Russian President Vladimir Putin in detail, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

"Listen to and read the statement by President [Putin] again," Peskov advised reporters when asked whether Moscow’s position regarding nuclear tests may change if the West decides to use its long-range weapons for strikes deep inside Russia as he referred to a recent warning statement made by Putin in St. Petersburg earlier this month.

On September 12, the Russian leader noted that NATO countries are currently not merely discussing whether to allow Ukraine to use their long-range weapons, but are essentially deciding whether to become directly involved in the Ukrainian conflict. Putin noted that Moscow will make decisions based on the threats posed to Russia.

Earlier, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said that Moscow’s position concerning nuclear tests has not changed and that Russia will not test its nukes, given the United States refrains from such steps regarding nuclear tests. However, Ryabkov drew reporters’ attention to media reports saying that the infrastructure of Russia's nuclear test site on the Arctic island of Novaya Zemlya was fully ready. "This was also in response to steps on the part of Washington which has been focused on upgrading the infrastructure they have at their disposal in this sphere in the past few years," the senior Russian diplomat explained.

Ukraine loses nearly 150 troops, several strongholds during counterattacks near Volchansk

LUGANSK, September 24. /TASS/. The Ukrainian armed forces have lost about 150 servicemen and several strongholds in recent days as a result of failed counterattacks near Volchansk in the Kharkov Region, military expert Andrey Marochko told TASS.

"In recent days, Ukrainian militants have been trying to stabilize the situation in the Kharkov region. In particular, they tried to launch about five counterattacks near the Liptsy and Volchansk settlements, which did not lead to the desired result. Moreover, due to the difficult operational and tactical situation and the use of untrained specialists, instead of regaining lost positions, the Ukrainian command lost several strongholds and about 150 troops," he said.

Russia's Troops Pincering Ugledar: What is Town’s Strategic Significance?
24.09.2024

The battle for Ugledar in the Donetsk region has been raging since 2022 when Russian forces first advanced toward it.
Moscow's forces are walling in Ukrainian troops with "a major pincer attack" towards the town of Ugledar, thereby making any troop rotation in the area "impossible," Igor Kimakovsky, adviser to the head of the Donetsk People’s Republic, has told reporters.
In relation, political and military analyst Sergey Poletaev told Sputnik about the strategic significance of Ugledar.
From the military perspective Ugledar stands like an outpost, stabilizing a very large stretch of the front line for Kiev forces. Seizing Ugledar could add to Russian troops’ offensive on the city of Pokrovsk.
In terms of logistics the town is situated near a railway from Donetsk to Mariupol and there is a highway which links it to the town of Volnovakha, an outpost linking it with the city of Mariupol.

Mariupol is a Russian main port in the Sea of Azov, which is why seizing Ugledar will close Ukrainian forces’ access to it. There are at least two coal mines in Ugledar, including the Yuzhnodonbasskaya N3, one of the largest such facilities in Donbass. These coal mines remain the strongholds of defense.
Any mine makes it possible to control the steppe terrain around it for kilometers. Also, a mine typically has underground areas, which turns it into a mini fortress.
Ugledar can now be likened to “a cauldron with the lid nearly slammed shut, on the verge of being cooked," Poletaev stressed.
"Media reports said that part of the Ukrainian forces stationed in Ugledar has been deployed to Pokrovsk, which means that Kiev has problems with reserves. Russia’s strategy is to bring the Ukrainian Armed Forces to the brink of point of exhausted reserves. This imperceptible process is of strategic significance, because it should lead us to victory," the analyst concluded.
