MOSCOW, October 16. /TASS/. Crews of Russia’s Su-25 ground attack aircraft have thwarted the rotation of Ukrainian forces in borderline areas of the Kursk Region, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
"The strike was carried out by aircraft missiles against reconnaissance targets," the ministry said. "According to intelligence reports, the enemy’s armored hardware and manpower were destroyed."
After the use of aviation weapons, the crews performed an anti-missile maneuver, releasing decoy flares, and returned to their airfield of departure

Finnish Foreign Minister Admits West Tired of Supporting Ukraine
Finland's Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen stated that Western countries are tired of supporting Ukraine, the Financial Times reports.
"Western countries are tired of their support for Ukraine and are increasingly hoping for some form of conflict resolution," the newspaper quotes Valtonen as saying, who urged her Western colleagues to redouble their efforts to help Kiev against the backdrop of the current situation.
"This is real ... and there is more and more of this kind of thing," the Finnish foreign minister said of Western fatigue.
She acknowledged that the conflict in the Middle East has diverted both attention and resources, and also caused many countries to think about finding a

Ukraine loses key road previously used for supplies for forces — security agencies
DONETSK, October 16. /TASS/. The logistics of the Ukrainian armed forces’ grouping in the settlement of Katerinovka in the Ugledar area has been paralyzed by the destruction of a key highway, which was used for supplying the troops in this area of the front line, a source in the security agencies told TASS.
"The highway leading from Katerinovka to Yelizavetka has been cut off, practically destroyed. It was used for supplying the Ukrainian military formation retreating from Ugledar, including into Katerinovka," the source told the agency.
This will make the situation for the Ukrainian armed forces in this area worse, as well as make it easier for the Russian troops to advance in strategically important areas, the source clarified.

Russian Airborne Force snipers daily destroy Ukrainian manpower in borderline Kursk area
MOSCOW, October 16. /TASS/. A sniper pair of Russian paratroopers destroyed Ukrainian soldiers in the borderline Kursk area, Russia’s Defense Ministry reported on Wednesday.
"After considering and comparing all the factors affecting the sniper’s fire, such as wind direction, the distance to the target and others, the assistant marks the target and the sniper shoots on sight. The enemy is destroyed with the first shot from a distance of over 1,000 meters. After that, the sniper pair promptly changes its firing position and keeps delivering aimed fire," the ministry said in a statement.
Sniper pairs pay special attention to camouflaging their positions. They use anti-thermal imaging cloaks and enclosed muzzle brakes that reduce the noise of gunshots and suppress flashes, it added.
"Snipers are also assisted by modern sights that help improve the efficiency of fire through higher magnification, range measurement and the aiming angle input scale placed in the field of view of the scope," it said.
Russian Airborne Force snipers daily destroy especially important enemy targets and manpower, providing support to paratroopers’ assault teams in a border area of the Kursk Region, the ministry said.
"We deliver fire at emerging and camouflaged targets. Depending on the caliber, we can also strike unarmored and light armored equipment. We also reconnoiter terrain and adjust artillery fire. We shoot down hexacopters dubbed Baba Yaga. They carry a large payload of up to two munitions of the 120mm mortar or a TM [anti-tank] mine. We also operated against FPV drones," the sniper squad commander with the call sign Tsiklop said.

A Ukrainian facility involved in the production and repair of armored vehicles in the port city of Nikolaev has been disabled by a Russian missile strike, the Defense Ministry in Moscow reported on Wednesday.
The Russian military released footage showing five missiles striking the same location at nighttime. The target appeared to be an industrial zone next to a port in Nikolaev, a city built on the Southern Bug river, roughly 60km from the Black Sea.
The ministry said the attacks hit five workshops and destroyed ten pieces of Ukrainian heavy weaponry, including six tanks.
The regional branch of the Ukrainian emergencies service mentioned an “infrastructure object” being damaged by a Russian strike overnight, although Ukrainian officials did not offer further details.
Earlier this month, the Russian Defense Ministry showcased an Iskander missile strike at a port in Odessa Region, which the military said targeted a ship unloading weapons it had delivered from elsewhere in Europe.
The vessel was identified by the media as the Paresa. Its operator, the Greek firm AK Shipping, maintained that the ship was not transporting any military cargo and was contracted to move grain from Ukraine on behalf of Swiss clients.

The ministry said the attacks hit five workshops and destroyed ten pieces of Ukrainian heavy weaponry, including six tanks.
The regional branch of the Ukrainian emergencies service mentioned an “infrastructure object” being damaged by a Russian strike overnight, although Ukrainian officials did not offer further details.
Earlier this month, the Russian Defense Ministry showcased an Iskander missile strike at a port in Odessa Region, which the military said targeted a ship unloading weapons it had delivered from elsewhere in Europe.
The vessel was identified by the media as the Paresa. Its operator, the Greek firm AK Shipping, maintained that the ship was not transporting any military cargo and was contracted to move grain from Ukraine on behalf of Swiss clients.
