New Russian fiber-optic drone wipes out Ukrainian combat vehicle in Kursk Region

KURSK, January 22. /TASS/. A new fiber-optic FPV drone dubbed Knyaz Vandal of Novgorod operated by a crew from the 83rd Separate Guards Air Assault Brigade of Russiaโ€™s Battlegroup North destroyed a Ukrainian combat vehicle in the borderline Kursk Region, a video obtained by TASS showed on Wednesday.

The video recorded by the FPV drone itself showed the UAV approaching a Ukrainian military motor vehicle in a forest belt in the Kursk area and destroying it.

The Knyaz Vandal of Novgorod FPV cable-controlled drone has been engineered by the Ushkuinik research and production center. The drone was tested in August 2024 when repelling the Ukrainian armyโ€™s incursion in the Kursk Region.

The FPV fiber-optic-controlled drone is immune to enemy jamming and helps accomplish diverse tasks. Novgorod Region Governor Andrey Nikitin said earlier that Russian forces had destroyed NATO equipment worth over $300 million by these drones in the special military operation in Ukraine.
