The Ukrainian operation in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation has significantly changed the dynamics of the war, particularly by undermining the morale of the occupiers, writes The Hill.

“President Vladimir Putin, who was once so firmly in control of the situation, now appears stunned and wanders aimlessly through the tedious meetings he once presided over with menace and authority. Gone are the threats of nuclear escalation, the shirtless summer holidays in Siberia, and the strange speeches against the West. This transformation in character may reflect the accumulated psychological consequences of losing a long and senseless war,” the article reports.

Ukrainian Officials Push for U.S. Approval to Strike Russian Targets

Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umyerov and President's Office Head Andriy Yermak are heading to Washington with a list of Russian targets for long-range American weapons, according to CNN.

"During personal meetings with representatives of President Biden's administration, Ukrainian officials will present a list of priority targets in Russia, seeking to persuade the U.S. to lift restrictions on the use of long-range weapons," the article states.

Sources note that without striking these targets, it will be challenging for Ukraine to shift the war in its favor.

On August 30, Umyerov will meet with U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin. It is currently unclear whom Yermak will meet.

A member of parliament interviewed by journalists emphasized that territory near the border, which can be reached with Western weapons, is still part of the Russian Federation.

"We see strikes deep into Russian territory by American weapons as no more provocative than strikes near the border. Both are Russian territory, regardless of how deep the targets are located," he said.

Vladimir Putin's Mongolia visit should, in theory, see him face ICC arrest - but reality will be different

An arrest warrant for Vladimir Putin from the International Criminal Court is live, but it looks unlikely that he will get detained on his visit to Mongolia.

Yes, it is what should happen in theory. All members of the International Criminal Court (ICC) are compelled to detain suspects for whom an arrest warrant has been issued, should they set foot on their soil. Mongolia is no exception.

But in reality, the country will not want to risk the ire of its powerful neighbour, on whom it has huge economic dependence.
