- The talks are to end a major fallout in the Jubilee party after some leaders criticised how the appointments were made
-DP Ruto was conspicuously missing when Uhuru announced the first nominees to the cabinet

Unlike in 2013 when the duo jointly announced nominees for cabinet slots, questions were raised on why Ruto was missing with conflicting reports emerging on where the DP was as his boss made the big announcement.

Uhuru retained six of his ministers and nominated three new faces. State House was later forced to clarify that the 13 other ministers who had been left out had not been fired.
Since then, politicians who were promised cabinet slots during the 2017 elections campaigns have been piling pressure on Uhuru and Ruto to honour those promises.
Leaders from regions where the opposition National Super Alliance (NASA) enjoys massive support who supported Jubilee have also not been left out in demanding to be rewarded or they would walk out of the ruling party.
However, its is not yet known what the top Jubilee leaders agreed on during the private-closed-door meeting.
