We are delighted to inform you that starting this month, we will be expanding our creator monetization tools in Tanzania on Facebook and Instagram. This means that eligible creators in Tanzania will have the ability to start making revenue from their content.
At Meta, we’ve always prioritised economic impact with our platforms, particularly for small businesses. Facebook and Instagram have long provided free digital tools to support small business owners to connect with customers and grow their business and be economically resilient in the constantly challenging times. And over time, supporting creators to find new ways to be successful on our apps and earn money has also become a priority for us. For this reason, by the end of 2022 Meta invested over USD1 billion globally in programs for creators. This has included seed funding for creators to produce content, and the gradual launch of new monetisation tools like subscriptions, bonuses, creator marketplace and IG Gifts and FB stars.
This month, we will begin rolling out the option for creators to earn a share of revenue from ads Meta will place next to their content on Facebook; we call this feature in-stream ads and you can find more information here. We will also begin the rollout of Ads a Reels, a similar product that allows creators to earn a share of revenue from ads Meta will place on their reels on Facebook, more information about ads on Reels here. Later this year, we plan to further expand our monetization offering to also include monetization features on Instagram.
To help creators understand the options they have and to benefit from these tools, we have launched Meta for Creators, a dedicated portal for creators offering them a one-stop-shop where they can explore their options, and learn how to make the best out of these tools. In this portal we also explain that creators wishing to monetize content must pass and remain compliant with a set of rules called Meta Partner Monetization Policies and Content Monetization Policies. These policies include deeper restrictions than our Community Standards on the content itself and the formats in which it is presented. Creators must ensure that their profiles, including their profile pictures and profile descriptions as well as their content, follow our Content Monetization Policies.
Similarly, as for any ads on our platforms, advertisers are required to follow our Advertising Standards which are designed to help protect people from poor experiences and support meaningful connections between people and businesses across our technologies. For example, we don't want ads that use profanity, show excessive nudity or include misinformation. More information on our ads policy here. We are excited about the possibilities creator monetization has to offer for creators and the wider creative economy.
We remain at your disposal should you wish to learn more about Meta’s creator monetization tools in detail. We will also wait for your guidance on further communication within government and to the Public.
