Smatta, you sound perfectly and completely like 18th century emperialist, your bravery and risk taking ability is what brought you to this point where 60% of your land is owned by 4% of the total population.
Haraaaambeeeeee for your strength to survive, the strength that made most of you, including you SMATTA be the slave in your own country.
Haraaaaambeee KENYANS for taking risk and manage to have high rate of segregation and racism, and that risk you took during your the time of building you national foundation is chewing you now,haraaaaaambee.....
But all in all,we dont want you,we dont need you and we do hate you.
hate is not our nature, but we hate you cause we know you dont love us,we hate you because kenyans dont deserve love because they dont know what love is.
We dont trust politicians, because they dont do what we want, and we know that they will definately sign the agreement. But hear me,and please hear me good,""Tanzania is neither your promised land nor your land of milk and honey.we know the consiquences of you Kenyans being here.you have no hummanity in your hearts, you are selfish and cant be trusted, though you cal it strength.
The problem of you being here will be dealty with a very rough hand from us,we will not wait for our goverment to take action because we dont trust our leaders. It will be us (STREEET CHAPS) that will deal with you. We dealty with IDDI AMIN DADA and chassed him out of Uganda, and we will deal with kenyans when the time come

LOLEST.... You must be a comedian (read* clown) am i supposed to be pissing my pants right now, scared that you will attack us or something.. LMAO. The xenophobic tendencies again, damn guys, whats wrong?? Get out of that cacoon, travell and come to Kenya, see how people are, you need to get out of your comfort zone (TZ) an go out and see if you will be accepted out of your motherland. You embrace the borders so much simply because you know that some people will benefit other than you coz you are stuck there, with no where to go. SMH

You know what, tukishikilia kuwa Tanzania haiko tayari kwa EAC then Tanzania will never be ready. It is funny that at our independence Tanzania was ready but it was Kenyatta who refused. Now the tables have turned and we use excuses that Kenyans speak better English, so they will take our jobs, Kenya is more developed industrially so they will use us as a dumping market, etc. etc. Guess what guys, all that you are fearing is already happening. Kenya is number 3 investor in Tanzania behind Britain. Figure that. With or without the federation Kenya is already reaping benefits from Tanzania. Ninyi endeleeni kusubiri hadi Tanzania itakapokuwa Tayari (which may be never) lakini mko tayari kuwapa Wasaudi na Wakorea kusini ardhi ya kulima na kuchimba madini. I am for the federation, political and social. Tear down the borders and damn the torpedoes!

You's a breath of fresh air.

tanzanians got to be the dummest people there is. they are quick to say that they want to be in the SADC because somehow they are brothers. in SADC, tanzania will have small or no influence in the manner that things will run in the SADC, while in the EAC they will be a major force with alot of influence. there is no way tanzania iS going to shout down or block what SA, angola and botswana want to do. those countries have more money hence more influence than TZ. i hope your leaders see that fact instead of listening to some of you guys.

TZ will have little influence in the SADC. case and point, TZ did not and could not oppose South africa when SA telecom wanted to be the major shareholder of EASSY fibre optic cable. SA stalled the process untill it got what it wanted, the only country that stood up and outright opposed SA was kenya(as we have done other times before) while other countries including TZ sat their scared shitless to oppose SA and being treated like children by SA. kenya started the TEAMS fibre optic cable(now functioning and EASSY is yet to complete contruction). TZ is still waiting for EASSY to be fully functional. if the EAC market was fully functional, we could have started the TEAMS project a long time ago and we didnt not have to put up with the crap from SA, we the EAC could have been more advanced ICT sector than the countries in the SADC(excluding SA), We the EAC could have attracted more foreign direct investiments like the BPO had we had the TEAMS cable much earlier. this is a good example of how TZ, UG & KE would benefit from the EAC and that is why IT IS CRUCIAL WE FAST TRACK THE EAC COMMON MARKET. geez i cant believe you Tanzanians cant see that.

If we fully merge our econmies and markets, we will have more money therefore we can embark on more ambitious projects to develop our countries, if we merge our economies we will have more power in negotiating better trade deals, if we fully merge our economies and markets we will attract more investiments just by the sheer size of the available market and labour pool to shoose from. these are the real benefits that we the EAC could be reaping if we had all our markets merged.

Tanzanians are saying that kenyans just want a bigger market for their goods and that is true but what the hell do you think South Africa wants TZ to join SADC? face it tanzanians you are going to join the EAC wether you like it or not because the market forces dictate that not because of brotherhood. brotherhood wont put food on your table or educate your children or built better roads but money will do that the best way to get more money is if we merge our markets and economies together.

finally, you tanzanians need to realise that although we kenyans and ugandans are far from being perfect, we are your neighbours and we are your best friends not because the citizens like each other but because of common and strategic intrest. like they say, hate the game not the player.

tanzanians need to snap out their "we are holier than thou" mentallity which amounts to hatred and start thinking pragmatically and rationally because if you tanzanians dont then your country will always remain one of the poorest nations on the earth. damn guyz quit being petty and GROW THE HELL UP!!!!!!!!!!!!

Noma sana am more than impressed, damn mayn you did your research, am luvin it. i knw the hate parade is lining up to kill your post, but they cant beat that logic.

Jasusi,

..Personally I believe kwamba INFERIORITY COMPLEX ndiyo inayowasukuma baadhi ya Watanzania kuamini kwamba hatuwezi kuendelea bila kuungana na nchi za EA, hususan Wakenya. tuna ardhi, abundant natural resources, larger population, kuliko majirani zetu wote, except DRC.

..kama Kenya wamefika hapo walipo with fewer natural resources, I dont see any reason for us to believe that we can not develop unless we unite with Kenya, and the rest of East African countries.

..halafu Tanzania ni member wa SADC tangu 1980. the goals and aim of SADC are identical to those of EAC, a good example being the establishment of single currency. sasa hapa sijui ni kitu gani kinaendelea kwa kweli.

Nomasana,

..you have raised some very interesting points.

..point of correction: SADC market is bigger than EAC market.

..SADC countries have more natural resources than East African countries. you have to remember that DRC, formely Zaire is a member of SADC.

..if FDI is influenced or dictated by the size of the market, then Tanzania should join SADC and not EAC.

..Tanzanians do not want their country to be a dumping place of goods frm Kenya or South Africa.

..now, if you really love Tanzanians as much as you claim, then toa ushauri wa jinsi gani tutaachana na kuwa "shamba" la Wakenya na Wa-South.

jokaKuu,
Now we are talking. I grew up eating butter, margarine na KCC milk from Kenya. Ninaamini kuungana kwa nchi za Afrika mashariki kutatupa sote nguvu za pamoja regardless whether Kenya is ahead industrially or not. I am trying to get away from the politics of fear. I believe in the politics of hope. East Africa is the only viable federation in Africa. We share the same language. Niambie ni wapi tena Afrika unakoweza kusafiri kutoka Mombasa hadi Mashariki kwa Congo ukizungumza lugha moja tu common ( Kiswahili). ECOWAS and whatever efforts the French speaking countries have attempted cannot match the possibilities we have in East Africa.
I look at Kenya's industrial development as a plus. Tukisema tungoje mpaka tuwe par na Wakenya in terms of development, it will never happen. Because that assumes that at one point Kenya will stop developing and we will be able to catch up. Let us jump on the boat as we are because we all have something to contribute to the common good.
Ukiangalia historia ya Tanzania tuna mengi ya kujivunia. We contributed immensely to the liberation of Southern Africa. We kicked the Portuguese out of Mozambique, we kicked Idd Amin's ass. We have hosted our neighbours from Rwanda and Burundi and taught them it is possible to live as brothers in peace. Leo tunageuka kuwaogopa Wakenya eti watakuja kuchukua ardhi yetu? What nonsense? Let us once again be the leaders we once were by showing the world that we can. Afadhali mara kumi Mkenya alime mchele Mbeya kuliko Msaudia. Actually I was thinking. Imagine 3 Kenyan farmers moving to Mbeya. One is Kalenjin, one is Kikuyu, and one is Mkamba. They settle in Mbeya farming rice among the Wanyakyusas. One day by accident they meet at the market. Realizing that they are former Kenyans, they form a bond. They visit each other and on Kenyatta day they invite each other to their homes to celebrate. In the process they realize they are Kenyans and not Kambas, Kalenjin or Kikuyu. This would have been our contribution to the fight against tribalism in Kenya. Let them come!

jokaKuu,
Nimesahau point moja. Umeuliza how we can avoid to be the dumping ground of Kenyan and South African goods. I assume you are talking within the context of the prevailing capitalist system. Once upon a time Mexico was a dumping ground of American goods. But with production in America becoming expensive many American companies moved south to use cheap labor. Today cars like VW sold in America are assembled in Mexico. Mexico is selling food items, clothes, TVs, and other electrical gadgets in the US market. I am sure if we strengthen our infrastructure and rid the bureacracy that is hindering investment opportunities Tanzania will be attractive to investors who are interested in building manufacturing plants in Tanzania. Remember we already have the market.

we dont need EAC,we better off alone. We got so many thing to tackel include employment, education, porverty and economy.Dont see what we benefity from them rather than they will benefit from us.We can have them as friend and good neighbour but this community is going too far. Before even we jointy completely ,they was already take our job.should we ask how many our graduator get employee in these country or how many Tanzania doing bussiness i there?since the community start how have we benefity interm of economic .When most of Tanzanian oppose these community with no favour for them rather than take what we have .Think about Our tourist attraction where we depend on economic how does government will protect these since.I met a lot of people here in Europe still belive mount Kilimanjaro is in Kenya .some been there via Kenyas tours operator.we need to talk about these .we need community where will benefit fairly

Ndugu yangu Susu,
Waulize wazungu wa Ulaya juu ya manufaa ya mwungano au shirikisho au whatever
you want to call it.

If the comments i am reading in this thread represents the opinions of majority Tanzanians and Kenyans, then this EAC thing will be a timed bomb which could explode any time after its establishment. In the least case scenario it will break up just like the former cooperation, in the worst case scenario what happened in Rwanda and Burundi will repeat, but this time in a larger scale.

Unless there is an understanding and consensus among East Africans, this cooperation will surely not work.

Can you fafanua further what you mean?

Can you fafanua further what you mean?
Nothing more than a note of caution.

The idea of cooperation is very good, but if the negative comments i have read in this thread represents the opinions of Tanzanians in this issue then I don't think it would be a wise idea to force this cooperation on peoples throat before these differences can be reconciled.

Therefore my initial comment was just a note of caution and nothing more.
