Tanzania took delivery of a brand-new government aircraft, a G700, ch-aviation research revealed. The transaction is part of the VIP transport fleet renewal plans announced earlier this year.
The ultra-long-range Gulfstream Aerospace jet, 5H-ONE (msn 87015) was at Appleton Outgamie County Regional from August 8, 2024, after a flight from Savannah International. It was then ferried to Dar es Salaam, via Casablanca Mohamed V, between December 21 and 22, and has not yet entered service following its arrival.
In February 2024, Tanzania’s Parliamentary Committee on Administration, Constitution and Law identified three aircraft used by officials. These included a 20.3-year-old G550, 5H-ONF (msn 5030), previously registered as 5H-ONE, intended to serve the president. The aircraft was ferried back from Dar es Salaam to Savannah between November 28 and December 1. The other two aircraft are a F50, serving other officials, and a F28-3000, which is currently stored at Dar es Salaam.
While both the G550 and the F50 are owned by the Ministry of Communications and Transport, the G550 is also operated by that institution, whereas the F50 is operated by TGF - Tanzania Government Flight. It is currently unclear which entity will operate the new G700.
This delivery may not mark the end of the VIP fleet renewal, as Tanzania's Ministry of Finance announced in the 2024/2025 national budget an interim payment to Boeing for a B737-700(BBJ), while De Havilland Aircraft of Canada revealed in July that TGF - Tanzania Government Flight had acquired a used DHC-8-Q400.
