It all depends on the level of external threats that you face. Tanzania is not worried of fellow East African countries such as Uganda. These are friendly nations Sukhois notwithstanding. For Uganda though, there could be serious threats up north to warrant the purchase of 4th generation fighter jets such as the Sukhois.

Well, i don't think the threat from Lake Nyasa dispute is big enough to warrant a panic in TZ. I believe the TPDF in its current form is more than adequate to deal with any eventuality.
