Tanzanian traders using sgr to transport their cargo.

Tanzanian traders using sgr to transport their cargo.

Thats why WB economists concluded that SGR was uneconomical. Even with railway dev levy +passanger + cargo revenue at optimum, The minimum charge to make economic sense for the loan and insane 8% intrest is 3k per economy class and 80k per teu..More expensive than road transport with road maitenance added.
Economist mwitu....wewe uza mitumba

You have a fair point about viability. However, i like Sgr mainly because it will open up previously closed up areas. And the long term impact of that is enormous. Remember, the old railway was actually very costly for the British empire but they persisted even though the critics then said that it was uneconomical. Look at what that railway has done for Kenya. Mombasa port would be useless without that railway. Nairobi would not exist simply because it was a railway depot. Nakuru would not exist because it was a stopover between Nairobi and Kisumu, for people to rest (and later some white settlers settled in Nakuru). Kisumu port would not exist without the railway. Kampala would not exist without the railway. Listen, the advantages of constructing railway is far bigger and beneficiaal than you think. It's not just about carrying cargo and people. It is also about opening up previously closed areas. Turning primitive African jungles into concrete cities like Nairobi and Kampala. That is how a real economist thinks....long term.
These are the lies that Jubilee sold to kenyans, there is nothing to be opened up along the Railway line..that was done 100 years ago. Opening up now is using Road networks rail is Just backbone. Jubilee sold you a lie that the Rail which is obtained at an insane cost somehow is "good" and has 'extra' benefits which we are yet to know.
That my friend is called poker, and Jubilee won.

I am tired. Looks like we can argue forever without reaching an agreement.

Ticts ni private company not government owned.😀😀😀 Government ni TPA😀
you need to work on your comprehension! I do not care what Ticts is, the joke is Dar port handling 500k teu's in a year for the 1st time ever in 2017.

Ticts operates 4 berths on a 13berths(including jet terminal) port of Dar es salaam so 500K TEU ni za TICTS pekee

Wewe wacha story nyingi, tupe statistics ya total teu(containers) handled. Ukijumulisha those 11 terminals.

Kwan mizigo inakuja kwa container tu ..hata mafuta ni mizigo ..magari ni mizigo ..is a port judged kwa containers au kwa mizigo ujumla?
