On July 1, 2020, President John Pombe Magufuli announced that Tanzania had been listed as a middle-income country.
Describing the announcement as 'historic achievement', Magufuli congratulated Tanzanians, adding that he had set goals to achieve the status in 2025.
"Today, the World Bank has declared Tanzania Middle Income Country. In this regard, I congratulate all my compatriots for this historic achievement. We had envisaged to achieve this status by 2025 but, with strong determination, this has been possible in 2020. GOD BLESS TANZANIA," he tweeted.
However, Tanzania's historic achievements were not celebrated in Kenya. A section of Kenyans, including renowned bloggers like Robert Alai, took to social media and launched attacks against Magufuli and Tanzanians at large.
For instance, Alai reacted to Magufuli's tweet by telling him how Tanzanians are begging in the streets of Nairobi and Mombasa.
"I see you have great developments. Can you come for your nationals who are begging in the streets of Nairobi and Mombasa? It's a complete mess here with human traffickers," he said.
Tanzania has made great development in terms of its infrastructure, talk of good roads in the city of Dar es Salaam, talk of the electric train being build using their resources, and not loans.
Another development that stands out in Tanzania is its newly opened bus station. Some Kenyans could break into tears if they compared Tanzania's Dodoma Bus Station with Kenya's Country Bus Station in Nairobi.
Dodoma Bus Station is like an airport.
The station's entrance, the waiting bay, washrooms, and name them, are all made to required standards.
There are also offices for each bus company where passengers pay for their tickets before they proceed to the waiting bay.
If took a photo inside this stage without any caption, the majority of people could say the photo was taken from an airport.

Is it not similar to Kenya's Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA)?
