Now they are seperate. I thought you said we would lose our port. KPA and KR are the same thing - gov agencies trying to facilitate transport. I know you Tanzania are not known for intellectually engaging yourself but there is nothing fundamentally wrong with SGR - the issues identified are mostly extranous - demurrage, storage & marshalling are under KPA (Port Operator - who runs Mombas and Nairobi ICD).
Wewe ni mzigo kweli kweli. The Topic is on the SGR and not the Port.

God save us

Nyerere said that in 1960s - he left TZ bankrupt and died a pauper. Kenya continued to thrive despite being mostly semi-arid and without any major minerals. Don't hold your breath - Kenya is a progressive nation - way more advanced than Tanzania. That is just a fact. Your railway to nowhere is the one that will bring you taabu sana.
Hawa jamaa wanajifanya wajuaji sana, watazidi kupata taabu sana.

Kenya agriculture is light years ahead of TZ. TZ has like twice kenya land - and twice more arable land - but you don't beat kenya in food production - unless when there is drought. This year kenya produced excess of 6-10m bag of maize. Maize is now being sold a throw away price.

I dont think there is anything TZ produce more than Kenya outside maybe beans and cashewnuts. Kenya of course is world recognised food exporter - tea, horticulture, dairy, avacodos, nuts, name it.

I also forgot to add this, this rail is long term, cargo thoroughput at the port of mombasa is always on an upward trend, for instance, this year the port is expected to handle a total thoroughput of slightly over 32 milliion tonnes and 1.2 miliion twenty foot equivalent(TEUs) up from 1 million TEUs,mombasa port is being stretched to its limit, cargo needs to be evacuated ASAP to create space, road evacuation is not enought,it needs to be supplemented by rail, still we cannot fail to mention road conditions have greatly improved, the total length of bad roads for the mombasa nairobi corridor has was at 60% in 2014,it has now reduced to 40% as at 2018.the benefits of this rail will eventually outweigh the cost and the short term short comings.

Transporters are avoiding it now coz of the Nairobi layover that's causing logistical challenges. When it reaches Naivasha & Kisumu trucks will not be able to compete.

Let us also have in mind that the chinese have chosen this rail as one of their land bridge across africa to the atlantic, the rail is not just terminating at kampala,in the long run it will end in west africa, the road and belt initiative by the chinese is real, now, this is where we are going to reap maximum benefits, kenya is the second largest exporter of goods within sub saharan africa after SA,we exported goods worth $3 billion across africa despite immense logitical handles, you can factor in the the availability of sgr to avert this logistical handles and the prospects have never been more promising.

There is a swahili saying "mfa maji hakosi kutapatapa" this is what you are doing.

Just to remind you the grace period for the sgr loan is July. After july the loan will triple.

If the loan triples, do you know what comes next?

Soma hizi kwanza

Ndii aliongea, lkn wachumi mwitu wa hapa JF wakaanza kupinga. sasa mbivu na mbichi ziko wazi.

Joto la jiwe you are still not getting it my friend, the cost of using either sgr or track is competitive,GoK was subsidizing sgr cargo haulage, giving it a competitive edge ,you are wrong on that

Kunta Kinte, ninakushauri uwe unatumia evidence katika discussion zako badala ya kutumia wishful zako. Hii article aliyoweka Mkikuyu akilitimamu, inajiekeza wazi kabisa, sijui kwanini unapenda kupinga bila ushahidi. Jana ulipinga kuhusu serikali kununua used locomotives toka Spain, ulitumia nguvu nyingi na kunionyesha mikataba ya WB na Kenya, kila nilichokueleza ndicho kilichotokea, GoK imenunua kwa pesa yake, what is your comment on that?.

Kuhusu kampuni na Italy kulipwa pesa na serikali ya Kenya, again ulipinga kwa nguvu zote, unapinga hata media zenu na kuziita sio reliable, hata pale Musalia Mudavad alipothibitisha, ulimuita ni bitter person kwa sababu hajashirikishwa katika handshake, sasa imethibitika kwamba kweli hilo kampuni limelipwa na GoK kwa njia za rushwa, what is your comments on this?.

Kuhusu hili la sasa hivi, article inasema wazi kwamba, kile kipindi cha serikali kutoa subsidies ya 50% kimekeisha, kama ilivyokua katika nauli za abiria za SGR, sasa hivi SGR imeanza kutoza nauli stahiki bila subsidy jambo linaloifanya SGR kuwa ghali kuliko barabara, hii ni ripoti iliyotokewa na kitengo cha serikali kilichopewa kazi ya kufanya research on business competitive ness of SGR, unapata wapi ujasiri wa kupinga hii ripoti?, unachoweza kufanya ni kuikataa hii ripoti kwamba sio ya serikali, but you can't challenge it without a research.
