The English Football League (EFL), have no obligation to accept Man City in the extraodinary event the club were expelled from the English Premier League over the alleged breaches of financial rules.
Since the EFL which covers championship, League 1 and League 2 cannot have more than 72 clubs, it is unclear how city would be accomodated in such a scenario without a change in regulation.

Man city could reportedly drop down four divisions if they are expelled from the Premier League with the EFL holding no obligation to accept them.
If the extraodinary scenario will come to fruition, the Cityzens could drop all the way down to the National League, competing with the likes of wrexham, chesterfield and Notts County.
