The rise and fall of Colonel Muamar Gadaffi

They say they wont put boots on Libyan soil, but they send special forces!

They say they dont take side yet they bomb Gaddaffi army!... and regret when they bombed rebels recently!

What next, they will be waiting for reconstruction tenders and money! Bussiness done.

And Libyans will eat their "democracy!"

Italy recognises Libya's rebel National Council

The Council's Ali al-Essawi was welcomed in Rome, where he met Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini

Italy says it will only recognise Libya's anti-Gaddafi Transitional National Council (TNC) in talks about the north African country's future. Foreign Minister Franco Frattini said the recognition would be "formal... as France and Qatar have already done".

Italy has been cutting its previously close ties with the government of Colonel Muammar Gaddafi.

Mr Frattini said proposals from a Gaddafi envoy to end the Libyan crisis were "not credible".

The TNC's foreign minister, Ali al-Essawi, rejected the idea of a transitional government in Libya headed by one of Col Gaddafi's sons. He also thanked Italy for its "support for the revolution".

"Our Man in Tripoli"

Moussa Koussa was "Our Man in Tripoli". The circumstances of his defection as well as the history of his collaboration with the CIA and MI6, suggest that for the last ten years, he has been serving US and Allied interests, including the planning of the "pro-democracy" armed insurrection in Eastern Libya.

Former head of Libyan Intelligence Moussa Koussa

Former head of Libyan intelligence Moussa Koussa played a central role in channelling covert support to the LIFG on behalf of his Western intelligence counterparts. Former CIA director George Tenet, while not explicitly referring to "Our Man in Tripoli", acknowledges in his 2007 autobiography that "the easing of tensions with Libya [was] one of the major successes of his tenure, as it led to cooperation between the two spy services against al-Qaeda." (quoted in Intelligence Partnership between Qadhafi and the CIA on counter-terrorism, op cit)

There should be no doubt: NATO and the LIFG are bed-fellows. The Western military alliance is supporting a rebellion integrated by Islamic terrorists, in the name of the "war on terrorism".

Who are the terrorists?

The outcome in Libya remains uncertain, but what seems clear beyond reasonable doubt is that military intervention has not saved the day for either the shadowy opposition known as 'the rebels', and certainly not for the people of the country.

It has seemingly plunged Libya into a protracted violent conflict with the domestic balance of forces tipping decisively in favour of the Gaddafi regime despite a major military onslaught managed by the American-led coalition, which in recent days has been supposedly outsourced to NATO.

But since when is NATO not an American dominated alliance? The best that can be hoped for at this stage is a face-saving ceasefire that commits the Libyan leadership to a power-sharing scheme, but leaves the governing process more or less as it is, possibly replacing Gaddafi with his son who offers the West the trappings of liberal modernity.

THE HAGUE (Reuters) - The International Criminal Court prosecutor said on Tuesday Libyan authorities had decided they were ready to kill unarmed protestors opposed to Muammar Gaddafi's rule even before unrest spread from Tunisia and Egypt.
ICC prosecutor Luis Moreno-Ocampo said the plan, which the government of Gaddafi began developing in January, authorized the use of tear gas and, if necessary, killings.

His comments mark the first time since Libya was referred to The Hague-based institution in February that a senior international legal official has said evidence exists the Gaddafi government planned to kill its own people, although Western political leaders have previously alluded to this.
"We have evidence that after the Tunisia and Egypt conflicts in January, people in the regime were planning how to control demonstrations inside Libya," Moreno-Ocampo told Reuters.

Gaddafi forces take Brega Rebel forces retreat over 20km east towards Ajdabiya, as Gaddafi troops mount fresh offensive to take key oil town.

Libyan rebel forces have abandoned the oil town of Brega and are heading east toward Ajdabiya in the face of a renewed offensive by troops loyal to Muammar Gaddafi.

Both sides exchanged heavy fire on Tuesday, but just a day after rebels had taken over a residential part of the city, they were forced to retreat.

Libyan rebels 'disappointed' by NATO Rebel commander says coalition forces are not doing enough to protect civilians, as Gaddafi's forces take key oil town.

Abdul Fatah Younis, the head of the Libyan opposition's armed forces, has accused NATO of acting too "slowly", or not acting at all, to protect civilians in their fight against Muammar Gaddafi, the Libyan leader.

Younis' comments came as the rebels were forced out of the oil town of Brega in the country's east by a renewed offensive launched by Gaddafi's forces. The rebels were forced to retreat to Ajdabiya, ending a stalemate over the last five days over who controlled Brega.

Speaking at a press conference in the opposition stronghold of Benghazi, Younis, who was formerly the country's interior minister, said that NATO had "disappointed" the rebels, even though it is helping them.

"Unfortunately, and I am sorry to say this, NATO has disappointed us. My staff have been in contact with NATO officials to direct them to targets that should protect civilians, but until now, NATO has not given us what we need," he said.

World War III Scenario? The War on Libya, the US-NATO Agenda and the Next Great War
by Paul Craig Roberts
In the 1930s the US, Great Britain, and the Netherlands set a course for World War II in the Pacific by conspiring against Japan. The three governments seized Japan’s bank accounts in their countries that Japan used to pay for imports and cut Japan off from oil, rubber, tin, iron and other vital materials. Was Pearl Harbor Japan’s response?
Now Washington and its NATO puppets are employing the same strategy against China.
Protests in Tunisia, Egypt, Bahrain, and Yemen arose from the people protesting against Washington’s tyrannical puppet governments. However, the protests against Gaddafi, who is not a Western puppet, appear to have been organized by the CIA in the eastern part of Libya where the oil is and where China has substantial energy investments.

NOVEMBER 2010 WAR GAME PLANS PRECEDED LIBYA ATTACK

On 27 March 2011, Democratic congressman Dennis J Kucinich wrote about war games and Libya (Libya's struggle ...):

According to Kucinich:

1. On 2 November 2010 France and Great Britain signed a mutual defence treaty.

This was to lead to "Southern Mistral" (Bienvenue à Southern Mistral 11), a series of war games.

Southern Mistral involved an air attack, called Southern Storm, against a dictatorship in a fictitious southern country called Southland.

The joint military air strike was authorised by a pretend United Nations Security Council Resolution.

The "Composite Air Operations" were planned for the period of 21-25 March, 2011.

2. On 20 March, 2011, the USA joined France and Great Britain in an air attack on Libya.

3. Are the war games Operation Odyssey Dawn?

4. Were the Libyan opposition told about the existence of Southern Mistral/Southern Storm?

This could have encouraged them to violence?

5. Libya was attacked, we have been told, because Gaddafi allegedly had killed 6,000 of his own people.

But is this true?

It sounds like Iraq: "Saddam was killing his own people, will kill his people, or will kill us if we don"t get him first."

The Iraq war begins its ninth year.

The cost is in excess of $3 trillion.

The intelligence making the case for the war was "sexed up".

"In the name of saving the people of Iraq, we bombed the country, invaded, changed the regime and it is still a carnival of deat....

Opposition forces in Libya are fighting to end the 42-year rule of Muammar Gaddafi and his government [AFP] NATO has vowed to protect Libya's civilian population and give priority to the besieged city of Misurata, a day after rebel fighters accused the military alliance of acting too slowly.
"We have a clear mandate and we will do everything to protect the civilians of Misurata," Carmen Romero, deputy spokeswoman for NATO, said on Wednesday, adding "Misrata is our number one priority".

A shocking report written by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the meetings held between President Medvedev and US Secretary of Defense Robert Gates this past week says that America’s war on Libya was “forced” onto it after French President Nicolas Sarkozy [photo top right with Libyan leader Gaddafi] threatened President Barack Obama with “total exposure” if the US didn’t attack.
Upon hearing Gates shocking admission of why the US began its war on Libya, this report says, Medvedev issued a warning that should too many civilians be killed America could expect Russian forces to move into the region to protect them, a warning that fell on deaf ears as Gates walked out of the meeting saying that he found Russia’s arguments “difficult to comprehend.”...........................................................................
.............................
..................
The “total exposure” threatened by Sarkozy unless the US attacked Libya regards the American President’s most senior advisor, Valerie Jarrett, who, according to this report, is the Iranian born “handler” of Obama for the “Moon Cult” factions of the Islamic World seeking to bring about the return of the prophesied redeemer of Islam known as the Mehdi.
Important to note about Sarkozy’s threatening to expose Jarrett for her extensive ties to the Persian Nation was her stunning revelation a fortnight ago before the Jewish Council for Public Affairs in Washington that she is of Jewish heritage herself, and not a Muslim as those in the US elite power structure had believed..........

The reason for Sarkozy wanting the complete and total destruction of Libya lies in the threats made against him last week by the Libyan leader's son, Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, who threatened to reveal a "grave secret" that would bring down the embattled French President.
The "grave secret" feared by Sarkozy we can further read about as reported London's Guardian News Service, and which, in part, says:
"Muammar Gaddafi's son has claimed that Libya helped finance Nicolas Sarkozy's successful election campaign in 2007, and demanded that the French president return the money to "the Libyan people".
In an interview with the Euronews TV channel, Saif al-Islam Gaddafi said Libya had details of bank transfers and was ready to make them public in a move designed to punish Sarkozy for throwing his weight behind opposition forces."

Deputy Prime Minister Sergey Ivanov confirmed on Wednesday that Russia would not participate in NATO’s operation in Libya after meeting with top Washington and members of Congress......According to the deputy prime minister, it was not he but rather his American hosts who introduced the subject of Libya.

In response to the question as to how Russia envisions possible future scenarios for the North African nation, which is now torn between anti-government rebels and loyalists to Muammar Gaddafi, Ivanov said the possible outcome scenarios were worrisome.

Ex-congressman to pitch exit plan to Gadhafi

'I've met him enough times to know that it will be very hard to simply bomb him into submission,' Curt Weldon says

A former Republican congressman was due to meet with Moammar Gadhafi Wednesday in a bid to persuade the Libyan leader to step down and allow democratic elections.

Weldon, a representative from Pennsylvania from 1987 to 2007, who has been to Libya and met Gadhafi before, said there were others within the regime who could be part of any "new Libya."

"First, we must engage face-to-face with Colonel Qaddafi and persuade him to leave, as my delegation hopes to do. I've met him enough times to know that it will be very hard to simply bomb him into submission," Weldon wrote, using a different spelling of Gadhafi's name.

"Simultaneously, we must obtain an immediate United Nations-monitored cease-fire, with the Libyan Army withdrawing from contested cities and rebel forces ending attempts to advance," he added. "Then we must identify and engage with those leaders who, if not perfect, are pragmatic and reform-minded and thus best positioned to lead the country."

He said the Libyan prime minister, Baghdadi Mahmudi, and Mustapha Abdul Jalil, the head of the rebel National Council, should meet with the United Nations envoy to the country to "work out a schedule for fair elections for a new president and legislature."

"The world agrees that Colonel Qaddafi must go, even though no one has a plan, a foundation for civil society has not been constructed and we are not even sure whom we should trust. But in the meantime, the people of Libya deserve more than bombs," he added.

He said he was leading a "small, private delegation" at the invitation of Gadhafi's chief of staff and "with the knowledge of the Obama administration and members of Congress from both parties."

US Cmdr: Libya ops upset some in Africa

  • By DONNA CASSATA, Associated Press
WASHINGTON (AP) - The military force unleashed on Libya by the U.S. and its partners upset several African nations despite the international community's widespread concerns over Moammar Gadhafi's use of force against his own people, the top U.S. commander for the continent told Congress on Tuesday.

Gen. Carter Ham, commander of the U.S. Africa Command, described the mixed reaction from the African Union to the airstrikes and enforcement of a no-fly zone over Libya, and his imperative to explain the need for swift action to perturbed nations. His comments came as the U.S. military drastically slashed the number of air and naval forces committed to the operation, now under NATO control.

"I think frankly as we proceed I'm going to have the responsibility, as I engage with our African partners, to have a very frank discussion about what U.S. Africa Command's role was and why we did what we did and just be as truthful and forthright as I can," Ham told the House Armed Services Committee.

He added: "There is an impact and there will be an impact in the region."

The war in Libya entered its third week with no end in sight and growing frustration throughout the region. The head of the African Union, Equatorial Guinea President Teodoro Obiang Nguema, expressed his support for Gadhafi and demanded an end to foreign interference into what he called an internal Libyan problem. The overmatched Libyan rebels criticized NATO with Abdel-Fattah Younis, chief of staff for the rebel military and Gadhafi's former interior minister, insisting NATO forces "don't do anything" even though they have a U.N. mandate to act.

"Although this humanitarian intervention is motivated by a noble impulse, there is a strong possibility of a strategic stalemate emerging in Libya," said Rep. Howard "Buck" McKeon, R-Calif., chairman of the Armed Services Committee. "I fear we may find ourselves committed to an open-ended obligation through our participation in NATO operations."
