Gaddafi loyalists fight on as Libya tries to unite

The war is not yet over for Libya's new rulers in the desert town of Bani Walid where Gaddafi loyalists vow to fight on for their fallen leader and other residents are angry over violence and looting.
Enraged by what they see as acts of retribution by forces loyal to Libya's new government, tribesmen say their men are already trying to regroup into a new insurgency movement in and around the strategic desert town south of the capital, Tripoli.

"The Warfalla tribe is boiling inside. They can't wait to do something about this," Abu Abdurakhman, a local resident, said during a tour of his house destroyed by what he said was a revenge attack by anti-Gaddafi forces.

"The Warfalla men of Tripoli and elsewhere are sending around text messages saying: 'We need to gather and do something about this. Let's gather! Let's gather!'"

ICC has no confirmation Gaddafi son wants to surrender

The International Criminal Court said on Wednesday it had no confirmation that Saif al-Islam, the son of Libya's Muammar Gaddafi, and former intelligence chief Abdullah al-Senussi are proposing to hand themselves over to the war crimes court.
"We don't have confirmation about this now. We are trying to contact the NTC for more information," ICC spokesman Fadi El Abdallah said.

"We request the council to give a chance to the NTC to take a resolution on this," he said. "This requires some days. Perhaps this will take place before the 31st of this month."

Libyan Deputy U.N. Ambassador Ibrahim Dabbashi told the 15-nation council that Libya's people are "looking forward to terminating the no-fly zone over Libya as well as terminating the mandate accorded by Security Council resolution 1973 to protect civilians as soon as possible."

"In accordance with the initial assessments, the date of Oct. 31 is a logical date to terminate this mandate," he said.

Dabbashi said that Libya's National Transitional Council (NTC) had not yet made an official decision on whether to request termination of the U.N. mandate under resolution 1973, which authorized members of NATO and other U.N. member states to take "all necessary measures" to protect Libyan civilians.

Libya's Mustafa Abdul Jalil asks Nato to stay longer
The head of Libya's transitional authorities has called for Nato to extend its mission in Libya until the end of the year.

National Transitional Council (NTC) Chairman Mustafa Abdul Jalil said the extension was needed to help Libyans trying to control surplus weapons and to deal with Gaddafi loyalists.

The war on Libya is part of a wider contemporary colonial NATO project, which is not interested in a stable Libyan government. When Spain declares the discontinuation of it´s aggression in Libya, and when NATO pronounces that it most likely will discontinue operation Unified Protector on 31 October, it is not because Libya is stable, but because NATO has achieved the destabilization of the country. NATO´s push towards the fastest possible establishment of an interim government is most likely based on the fact that this government and it´s military leader Belhadj can "legally" call upon NATO for assistance. Before that can be done, NATO and the TNC have at least to provide the appearance of legitimacy and stability of the new government.
