The vast majority of Tanzanians cannot speak their mother tongues

"Tanzanians have two English names...."i don't know why but I had asked myself this question a couple of times after watching a Tz movie and reading on the Casts names. Very awkward.

What do you mean by two English names??

Does anybody in England speak either of their mother tongues Saxon or Norman?
What about Gothic languages of German and France?
Tsk...ask a stupid question!
You're argument is highly flawed the Saxons Normans and Goths are peoples who stopped existing a long time ago as independent tribes. The Normans spoke old French and the Saxons old English which are very much present in modern English their language evolved. There is no such thing as a Gothic language. Gothic languages went extinct when they were assimilated into romance speaking societies but hints of the language can be found in some present day Germanic and Slavic languages. So comparing an ancient people with their present day descendants is very misleading.

FYI the English mother tongue is English and old Saxon is also called old English, the Normans from northern France spoke Norman or old French

Give Africa another 1000 years of wars and assimilation and none of us will be able to recognize our descendants and their language. Violence is an ever present constant in the human condition today we are Kenya and Tanzania, tomorrow we might be part of greater china or greater east Africa there is no telling if any of the languages we speak today will even exist in its present form in the next 200 yrs. So the question we should be asking ourselves is, does it really matter? your descendants might look like a Latino and may speak kichinese and you may not understand each other. If this was your main point was about what could happen in future, then you're absolutely correct at that point sukuma kikuyu maasai etc shall not exist, we may have an amalgam of languages by then.

Kenya leads Africa in the number of people that can speak more than 3 languages!! Am in the category of +5
