Ahaaa haaa haaa
Go back to the video. You will see how Sri Lankans were celebrating to have the money which needed to implement their projects. Remember Chinese are not worrying about the project ability to pay the loan. They concerned about foreclosing the key assets of the country. This is why we are referring China as a buyer of the world.
Watu wengi hua mnapenda kutumia mfano wa Sri Lanka lakini hua hata hamjisumbui kusoma vipi walifika hapo.... China did not force Sri Lanka to give up her port, Sri Lanka has more than one port .......... Sri Lanka gave their equivalent of Bagamoyo port to China which had been built on loan instead of PPP and after it failed to attract business, so Sri Lanka thought instead of trying to manage the new port hambantota in the south and fail to pay back the loan, why don't we give it to the Chinese to own it and forget the debt and they will give it back after recouperating profits...meanwhile TZ gave up bagamoyo for free!
Meanwhile Sri Lanka ownes a bigger port in the north called port of Colombo which Handles 5.7million TEUs p.a .... To put it into paspective , all the ports from Dgibouti ,Kenya, Tz to Mozambique combined! Don't handle $5.7 million TEUs p.a.
Alafu hivi unajua Sri Lanka (which has an economy similar to Kenya) iko na external debt ya $53B ?
And FYI, in comparison, Tanzania iko na external debt ya $21B of which ukiangalia in terms of % to GDP ni kubwa kuliko external debt ya Kenya.
