The Germans had plans for Tanganyika but the Englishmen messed them up. German colonized Tanganyika for few years but they did a tremendous job compared to the longest period (40+years ) under the British rule.
After independence we embraced pan africanism. We used much of our resources to liberate other African countries which were still under colonialism. I don't blame Nyerere but the people he helped are mocking us now. The Ujamaa policy was good but we all know how it ended. Nyerere being the man he was he stepped aside to let others correct his failures. The others that followed have led us where we are now.
Apart from bad governance Tanzania also suffers from its historical background. In order to move forward we have to work hard and set our priorities but nobody gives a damn about that. Everyone comes with his own priorities. The fact that we haven't been able to move forward saddens me. May be Magu will lead us to the promised land of honey and milk. Of course I voted for him because he at least spoke the truth.
