Travel $ Tourism contributed 8.8% to Kenya's GDP.

Travel $ Tourism contributed 8.8% to Kenya's GDP.

Using hotel beds statistics is the most lamest way to counter this topic, come again

Wacha basi nifanye correction kulingana na ulivyosema kuhusu matumizi ya hoteli.

Kenya hotel guests (locals + foreigners) = 3.3 million
Tanzania hotel guests (locals + foreigners) = 1.5 million

Foreign tourists sleep in hotels. Period.
If not all of them, 99% of them.

The usual nonsense from the resident idiot.

Now let's get some facts 1) Kenya International Tourist receipts this year were 1.57B 2) Total industry contributed about 8B dollars. Tanzania is NOWHERE near there.

According to World Travel & Tourism Council report, Kenya is now positioned as the third largest tourism economy in Sub-Saharan Africa coming after South Africa and Nigeria.

Conclusion: Tanzania Travel & Tourism industry is about nearly HALF kenya's
Here are Tanzania numbers.

The total contribution of Travel & Tourism to GDP was TZS10,526.7bn (USD4,721.0mn), 9.0% of GDP in 2017, and is forecast to rise by 9.1% in 2018, and to rise by 7.1% pa to TZS22,790.8bn (USD10,221.2mn), 10.1% of GDP in 2028. In 2017 Travel & Tourism directly supported 446,000 jobs (3.3% of total employment).

Balala is a failure, how can 2.1m tourists contribute only ksh 790bn while 1.2m tourists in Tz contribute an equivalent of ksh 960 to Tz GDP?
To make matters worse, 2.1m tourists in kenya generate a revenue of only $1.2b while in tanzania. Just 1m tourists are generating double that($2.4b)
Jubilee celebrates mediocrity

In other words Tz beats kenya in
1) Direct revenues $2.4bn vs $1.2bn
2) Contribution to GDP $9.6 vs $7.9bn
3) Tz actually has less tourists than kenya - (1.2m vs 2m) But those that go to Tz spend more(Direct revenues) and Contribute More to Gdp.
You are using alot of energy to prove your ignoranance😂😂😂

now I can truly conclude that you are an IDIOT!!
What is wrong with you buds?, wizara yenu imetoa taarifa kwamba mwaka Jana mlipata $1.5B kutokana na watalii million 2. Tanzania tumepata $2.4B, unachopigia kelele ni kipi mpaka utoe idadi ya vitanda na abiria?.

What matters is money.

There is more to tourism than international receipts. Kenya has a well developed domestic tourism. This was developed in late 90s and early 2000s as response to terror & clashes after international tourist fled. That mean kenya hotels during lean seasons have packages for domestic tourism to enjoy.

Tanzania can learn something from Kenya and build it's tourism capacity - otherwise they are reliant mostly on international tourists.

I am not bragging. Certainly Kenya can and ought to do better.I believe Kenya can compete with South Africa - if we seriously invest in our travel & tourism sector. But TZ is so far behind.

I'm quite certain we don't have double the number of tourists. I would even bet Tanzania has more.

Kenya's GDP is bigger. So 9% is bigger than your 11% in monetary values.
And tourism contributing only 9% shows how diverse Kenya's economy is.

So now you even doubt your GoK figures of 2m tourists? So Gok cooks its books?
You are lost in your own vain braggadicio and ignorance

Delusional way of thinking, you get $1.5B, per year, we get $2.4B per year, it pains but you have to swallow as it is, apart from boasting too much, is there anything thing Kenya can top Tanzania?

I'm not talking of Kenyan figures.
You like massaging Tanzanian figures to prove your point.

You cannot be telling us here today that Tanzania received 1 million visitors last year, while all along when Kenya was announcing 1.5 or 1.7 million, you used to claim Tanzania got more.
