Take this simple example, when one is taking American citizenship, they've to pledge their "allegiance" exclusively to America and renounce their allegiance to "any and all foreign governments". Now, you want to become both, how will you serve your dual allegiances?
Those blowing trumpets for this matter are the ones that always believe you can it have it both ways without compromising the other end.

But is citizenship something to be settled after bargaining?
All the things mentioned above(in the main thread) can be met without dual citizenship if the government is flexible and the diaspora community members are emotionally committed to their links with Tanzania and her causes.

Security wise, since citizenship carries with it a responsibility to be exclusively loyal to one country, the whole concept of dual citizenship and nationality raises questions about which of the dual citizenships have priority. This is extremely important when the two countries have opposing interests as I highlighted previously. It can be a deadly problem when a dual citizen is in a high position within our Tanzanian government (refer to Tito Okello's history in Zanzibar Revolution,1964).
Can one imagine a Ugandan citizen serving in the TPDF during the Kagera war? Or how about a citizen of the URT holding a cabinet position in the Ugandan government during that conflict?
