Non of those airlines can beat KQ at its home base... just like no airline expects to beat ET in Addis. .. case point... JKIA did 7.5m PAX last year. at the same time KQ did 4.42m with jkia as its hub.... similarly Jambojet whose hub is also jkia did 1.2m persengers last year...

Anyway, to counter the threat of those other airlines eating into KQs revenue from the NY-Nai route KQ has entered code share agreement with delta airline (something which non of those other airlines can do on the Nairobi-NY route as they are not based in Kenya)
This means, From Kenya you can fly with KQ to JFK then connect to any american city served by delta... same thing from US you can fly Via Nairobi hub to any African country served by KQ...

Airlines are not a football match, there is no home advantage. Price and service wins the game. You should have a look at the way Emirates cannibalised All routes out of heathrow to the detriment of British Airways

Mnashangilia kama mazuzu. Tanzania ilishapata clearance tangu Raisi Clinton akiwa madarakani sasa tunanunua ndege ili tuwe na uwezo wa kuruka kwenda huko.

Those big airline they can beat KQ if they want to, they can just add more frequency on places KQ is trying to connect with US. Plus wanauwezo wa kupunguza bei ya nauli kitu ambacho KQ can't afford right now. (XO game)

Kenya Airports Authority has received the Last Point of Departure (LPD) clearance for Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

The clearance granted by the American Government now gives the green light for airlines to fly directly from JKIA to any destination in the U.S.

The LPD clearance was the last remaining hurdle in the planned direct flight operations for Kenya Airways.

The airline has scheduled its first direct flight out of JKIA to New York on October 28, 2018.

Last year, Kenya obtained a Category one status that allowed direct flights from the country to the U.S.

This followed years of conceited efforts by the government through the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority.


“Category One is a status granted to a country. On the other hand, Last Point of Departure is granted to airports,” KCAA Director General Gilbert Kibe said during a recent interview with Citizen Digital.
