Hao wanafunzi waache kupoteza muda, kama wana kipenda sana kiswahili basi wote wakafanye PhD za kiwahili.
 
Kama kawaida kwenda mbele na kurudi nyuma...aagh, somesheni watoto lugha nyingi kadiri itakavyowezekana ala! kiarabu, kiingereza na kifaransa na kiswahili..
 
Watanzania tutathmini kwa makini matumizi ya lugha katika kuleta maendeleo ya nchi. Juzi kikwete alivyokuwa na swaiba wake rais wa Cuba kila mmoja alikuwa anaongea lugha yake pale. Hii inadhihirisha kwamba nchi kama nchi ni lazima ijijenge ndani kwanza kabla ya kutoka nje, kama ndani hamuelewani itakuaje mkaelewana wakati macho yenu yakiwa nje. Lungha ya Kiingereza iwe ni lugha ya ziada na itusidie tu kuwasiliana na wenzetu nje pale inapotakiwa kama vile issue za kazi n.k, watu wengi wamebweteka kuwa kujua kiingereza ndio kujua kila kitu. Tuikubali lugha yetu na tuitumie kwa kujiletea maendeleo yetu wenyewe kama wanavyofanya wenzetu.

I concur with you mkuu, lakini gharama halisi ya huu mpango lazima iangaliwe kabla ya kukurupuka. It will take not less than 30 yrs approx. kuanza kupata matunda halisi ya mpango huu. Mzee kumbuka yale maneno ya sayansi shule ya msingi yalivyokuwa magumu. Sasa imagine mtu anayesomea udaktari au uhandisi jinsi itakavyokuwa ishu, unless kama maneno ya kisayansi tutaamua kuyaacha kama yalivyo. Maana itakuwa bado ni kujifunza lugha nyingine.

All this means tunarudi kwenye fundamentals. Mwalimu alijaribu kwa kiasi kikubwa sana kuendesha nchi kuanzia kwenye fundamentals, kuwa na vision and focus. As of now kwa nchi iliyofisadiwa mpaka kifikra I doubt kama mpango huu unaweza kutekelezeka. We have to clean the house first kabla hatujaanza mipango ya namna hii. Tunahitaji kuacha kutegemea misaada kabla ya kuanza kutekeleza mipango hii.

Sipingi kutumia kiswahili lakini lazima tuface reality. Hata hao wachina huwezi kuamini wako bize mno kusoma kiingereza hivi sasa. Singapore, Malaysia lugha ya shule ni English. Tukumbuke pia kwamba Zimbabwe (pamoja na mapungufu yao) developed one of the finest education system in Africa lakini walitumia kiingereza, pamoja na kwamba wana lugha zao shona, ndebele, zezuru n.k.

Je matokeo ya mtihani wa somo la kiswahili kuanzia darasa la kwanza mpaka form four ni mazuri sana kwa sababu lugha hiyo inaeleweka na wengi? Nna uhakika majority of young men ukimuuliza maana ya kurunzi, kandili, kiona mbali hawawezi kukuelewa kabisa.

Na tukumbuke pia kwamba kiswahili kikiingizwa kwenye masomo itakuwa ni grammatical swahili ambayo ni ishu hata kwa waingereza wenyewe inapokuja suala la grammatical english.

1. Je Tanzania haiendelei kwa sababu ya lugha ya mkoloni kufundishiwa mashuleni?

3. Je kiswahili kinaeleweka vizuri na watanzania wote?

4. Gharama ipi ni kubwa kuinvest kwenye kiswahili na elimu kiujumla au kwenye kiswahili.

5. Je kiswahili si lugha ya kigeni? Maana watanzania wote wana makabila yao na kiswahili was imposed on them kama lugha yah taifa kutokea pwani.

It is reported that China will spend three years to set up an English grading system in middle schools. At present, new English textbooks and English grading standard are under deliberation. A training program aimed at teachers is underway since this year's summer vacation. A student of Grade 9 at the top of the new English grading standard is required to master 5,000 English vocabularies, which is more than two times of current vocabulary standard for high school graduates. High school students are required to have English of Grade 7 when they graduate. For taking part in college entrance examinations, their English must reach Grade 8.

Chinese children nowadays have started to learn English from the third grade in primary school, the time when they still know little about their mother language. And they'll keep learning English during the whole period of schooling and their English standard may even influence their jobs, promotion as well their lives in the future. From primary school to graduate school, English is always the must-be-tested subject. After graduation, English will also be required for employment, promotion and professional evaluations.

Too much time spent on English

Learning English needs a language environment. Without it, people have to spend a lot more time on memorizing. For many of the learners, even they have tried hard, they still achieve very little.

"I read nothing but English during my free time," said Xiao Zhong, a postgraduate from the Economic Department of [URL="http://english.peopledaily.com.cn/data/province/beijing.html"]Beijing Normal University[/URL], "but my listening comprehension and oral English remained far behind satisfaction."

A girl had to take the graduate school entrance examinations five times because of failure in English in the four previous yours, although she had excellent records for her major subjects. "During the past five years, I had spent 80 percent of my time on studying English until finally past the examination," she complained. She said that if she had spent the time on her major subjects, she might have great progress in her studies.

Professor Gu Haibing from the National Economic Management Department of Remin University of China said that for most people who had finished nine-year compulsory education, it is impossible or unnecessary to be excellent in all the subjects, given the current circumstances that professions are all meticulous divided. We suppose the study cost (time) on basic subjects are the same, if a person spends more time on English and his time on other subjects will be less. The result is that the person masters neither English nor other subjects. It will inevitably reduce the efficiency of learning.

Measurement of talent?

Currently, no matter at school or in companies, English seems to have become the top priority to judge one's talent.

According to Professor Gu, the measurement of a talent should not be based on any man-made standard. However, at present, people who cannot speak English are considered as second-class talents; people who cannot write in English are third-class talents; and those who know nothing about English are not talents at all. People who know neither English nor computer are simply blockheads. A look at Chinese school education shows that English is the only compulsory curriculum during the 20-year-long schooling from primary school through to graduate school.

The English grading system has deviated from its original purpose that requires primary and middle school students "paying more attention to practical capability in English, so that they are not just learning the words but can listen to and speak English.

Some professionals believe that as long as one knows 1,000 to 2,000 vocabularies, basic grammars, simple dialogues and the way to check into a dictionary or relevant software, he or she would be able to use English as an important tool in their future work and studies.

Proper status and correct study methods

According to Professor Gu Haibin, for English study, especially the study of spoken English, practice is very important. Without practice, the level of oral English of some people who have studied English for many years may not match those vendors at the foot of the Great Wall who often speak English with foreigners while hawking their commodities.

Here is the dilemma: on the one hand English is compulsory in school, on the other hand, there is no language environment in the society.

Research shows that in English learning, the older the student, the higher the cost, or the lower the efficiency. The study of English, especially oral English, should be tackled during the period of middle school rather than that of graduate school or PH.D. programs.

Currently, the English teaching in colleges and universities is not at a higher level, but only a repetition of what the students leaned in high school. And again, the English class for postgraduates is a repetition of their college classes. The students take the course only for passing the examinations. The real meaning of English learning no longer exists.

An investigation shows over 95 percent of Chinese college students will not use oral English in their whole lifetime nor will they read any English materials. Most people only need to check second-handed references in their work and the number of English-Chinese experts required nationwide is after all limited. (China.org.cn)
 
One of the country developed without using its language is America, English wasn't an american language before the British invasion. Many young people in south Africa died becasue they wanted to be taught in English (International language). we are now in globalisation not in colonial era. we want our graduates to be internationally competitive in the job market. wakenya wanachukua vibarua vyetu just because of they speak English. anyway let them go we can know their nosense.

Wamarekani wengi walikuwa waingereza wanaoongea kiingereza wakawaua native americans (ambao walikuwa na lugha zao wenyewe) ndio maana Wamarekani wanaongea kiigereza.Lakini sio kiingereza kilichofanya waendelee,ilikuwa ni lugha yao.

Mimi natetea muswada wa vijana wa chuo kikuu na nasema kwamba kama tungekuwa na hata watu hata kumi tu Tanzania walio na fikra kama vijana hawa tungekuwa mbali.

Kiingereza ni lugha tu jamani angalia vijana wangapi wenye akili tunawapoteza kwa sababu tunafundisha watoto wetu kwa lugha za kigeni,(tofauti na za kibantu ambazo raisi kwa wao kuelewa) nasema, elimu sio kiingereza, ni kujua facts, ndio maana watoto wetu hawagundui wala kutengeneza kitu chochote ( hawaelewi physics, wana cram tu) kama kasuku!!

Kiingereza kifundishwe lakini liwe somo la pembeni, medium ya kufundisha iwe kiswahili mpaka chuo kikuu.Tukifanya hivi watoto wetu wata internalise knowledge na itakuwa rahisi kuitumia.
 
Elimu mbovu ni elimu mbovu, haitegemei lugha unayotumia, TZ elimu ni mbovu kwa kweli. Hatuvumbui vitu kwa sababu elimu yetu haijali creativity na critical thinking, ukitoa mawazo tofauti darasani bakora, ukiongea bakora, ukikosa swali bakora.

Kuna dogo juzi juzi amekataa kusema "Pledge of allegiance" Marekani kwa sababu kipengele cha "liberty and justice for all." anakiona ni uwongo. Bongo unaweza ukakataa kuimba wimbo wa taifa? Au wimbo wa CCM inajenga nchi? Si watakuua walimu!!

Zaidi ya hapo tumeshakwenda mbali sana na kutumia Kiingereza sidhani kama tunaweza kurudi, kuna nchi gani ambayo imefanikiwe kurudi kwenye lugha yao ya asili baada ya kutumia Kiingereza kwa muda mrefu kama sisi?

Leo nikitafuta "High school physics" kwenye Amazon napata vitabu zaidi ya elfu tano, tukiamua kutumia Kiswahili tutakuwa na vingapi? Mambo ya kitabu kimoja ndo upuuzi kabisa.

Tatizo sisi waafrika hatuoni mbali tumetekwa kimawazo- tunafikiri kuwa kiingereza ndio elimu but this is utter stupidity.

Polepole tuanze kutafsiri vitabu vya sayansi na hesabu kwenye kiswahili.Vijana wataongeza mori wa kusoma na polepole tutaondokana na kiingereza.Sisemi kwamba kiingereza tukiache kabisa la hasha, kiwe kinafundishwa kama lugha ya pembeni lakini sio lugha ya kwanza kama wanavyofanya wajerumani, waholanzi na mataifa mengine yenye maendeleo ya kweli. Singapore imeendelea lakini ni copy cats.

We are not too late, unasema hivyo kwa sababu hujui historia( not suprised there dispite the fact that unasema kiingereza kimekupa elimu) Wajerumani na waingereza walitumia latin(lugha isiyo yao) kwa mamia a miaka lakini walivyoanza kutumia vernacular zao mfano martin luther alipotafsiri biblia kutoka latin kwenda kijerumani na waingereza kufanya hivyo, watu wa kawaida wasiojua latin waliamka kielimu kwa kuwa sasa waliweza kusoma kutumia lugha yao wenyewe, hii ilikuwa kama information revolution, au reformation na ndio iliyochangia industrial revolution.

Wanaongangania kiigereza ni wale wanaoishi ivory towers wanaotaka watu wa kawaida wasijue yale wanaojua wao, hii dio kasumba ya mwafrika, absolutely wicked.

Tatizo shule nyingi bomu bongo, mimi nimesoma TZ primary hadi A-Level Kiingereza hakinisumbui kabisa, sasa hilo linawezekana vipi kama wabongo hatuwezi kuelewa lugha? Tatizo ni hii kasumba kuwa HATUWEZI, ukiongea Kiingereza watu wanacheka! Kiingereza kinabidi kianze kufundishwa mapema zaidi, kwenye umri ambao mtoto anajifunza lugha naturally, nadhani miaka 1 hadi 3.

Tutatafsiri vitabu polepole wakati dunia inafanya nini? Itatusubiri sisi tutafsiri vitabu? Copyright ya hivyo vitabu vyote tutaweza kuzigharamia? Ukitafsiri leo kitabu cha Physics kwenye Kiswahili ni watanzania wangapi wataweza kukielewa bila kuanza kujifunza vocabulary mpya ya kiswahili?

Na kila siku nashukuru nimesoma kwa Kiingereza, nakutana na hao wachina na wahindi mwaowasifia wanahangaika balaa English inawatesa sana, na haujui wanavyotamani wangejua na wao.

Kiingereza ndo lugha ya kimataifa, hiyo ndo reality lazima uweke pride pembeni uangalie vitu jinsi vilivyo. Kiingereza ndo lugha ya biashara na ndo lugha ya Technologia.
Nadhani wewe ndo upo ivory tower unataka uwanyime wenzako opportunities ambazo zinakuja pale tu unapojua Kiingereza.

Huo mfano wako wa historia ni apples and oranges, enzi hizo kulikuwa hakuna elimu kabisa kwa watu wa kawaida, hata printing nadhani ndo kwanza ilikua inaanza, sasa hivi kuna overload ya information wewe unataka watu washindwe kuielewa! Haliwezekani kabisa hilo.

Transition iwe polepole tuintroduce kiswahili na kiingereza mpaka mpaka hapo tutakapokuwa na vitabu vya kutosha.Sisemi tuache kiingereza moja kwa moja, ila basis ya lugha yetu iwe kiswahili.

Nimekupa mfano wa lugha huko ulaya kukuonyesha kuwa lugha zetu ni muhimu na huo mfano ni relevant kabisa.Tukianza kutumia kiswahili watu wataanza kusoma zaidi kwa kiswahili na watu wengi wataelewa sayansi tofauti ilivyo sasa ambapo vitabu vingi vemeandikwa kwa kiingereza.

Inawezekana kabisa kufanya transition kutoka kiingereza kwenda kiswahili ila fikra zetu ni duni sisi waafrika( we are slow to think and full of inferiority complex) and lazy to have implement ideas

Acha kupotosha Umma. Wasauzi walikufa kwa kukataa kufundishwa kwa Ki-Afrikaner badala ya lugha zao. Marekani ni Taifa la Wazungu waliokimbia mateso ya zama za giza Ulaya na huko Marekani waliua wenyeji ambao mnawaita 'Wahindi Wekundu'. Na lilijengwa kwa misingi ya Kiingereza.

Si kweli! Mchina amegundua nini zaidi ya dawa zao za kienyeji? Kwani wana nini - zaidi ya wizi & kutofuata taratibu za kibiashara? Hawa wachina wamefika hapo kwa kukopi/kuiba technologia na elimu ya nchi za magharibi (hasa hasa za nchi zinazozungumza kingereza i.e. US & UK). Wanajifanya wanakimbia hali mbaya kwao, wanazamia na kuingia kwenye systems za huku kumbe akili kichwani..

I think you failed to get the right swahili words for your first sentence. are you sure that native people in US we killed? my history tells me they were slaved into British plantations.

do you have any evidence that people do not understand physics because of English. The answer look like NO but the reason is because science is given least priority in our country whether it is taught in English or kiswahili we cant move forward unless we change our altitudes.

Watu kama prof mwandosya kwa nini wameacha science wakaenda kwenye siasa? Anyway to me swahili is the second language from my mother tongue I feel the same difficult like English.

Do you know why we hesitate to implement some of the EA community agreements. The answer may be because we are the least English speaking country compared to Uganda and kenya. Do you know why china is changing from its native language to English, Japan has many courses in its universities taught in English, the same applies to Germany and other european countries do you think why?
 
Wachina wanatumia lugha yao kwa vile wameendelea na wanajitosheleza ,hawahitaji chochote kutoka kwa akina bwana mkubwa sasa sisi akina kabwela mnaposema kiinfgereza si muhimu huo ni upotoshaji,sisi tunanini ambacho kitatufanya tusihitaji kingereza sisis uchumi wetu ni tegemezi ,inabidi vijana wetu wajue kingereza ili waweze kuwasiliana na wenzao,huko nje hakuna anayekihitaji kiswahili ,lakini kichina au kijapani wengi hujifunza sababu hizo nchi zimeendelea na wengi hutaka kwenda katika nchi hizo kwa ajili ya kufanya kazi,kusoma n.k,sasa kwa hapa tanzania mmh na sasa ndio tunakuja na n EAC sijui kiswahili kitatufikisha wapi na huo ndio ukweli wenyewe na anayetaka kusikiliza na asilize anayepinga na apinge kwa maanfgamizi yake mwenyewe.

Tatizo la Tanzania na Afrika sio lugha ni viongozi wetu wabovu.

Zaidi ya hapo kuna uongo fulani kusema Wachina wanaongea "Kichina". Wachina wanaongea zaidi ya dialects 10 za Kichina na wengi wao hawaelewani.
