Sources told Bangalore Mirror that though the family of three were holding valid Indian and Maldivian visas, they were denied entry into Maldives due to insufficient funds and no hotel reservation.
They were sent back to Bengaluru on an Air India flight and upon arrival they were denied entry into India by immigration authorities.
“The family had booked tickets with Air Tanzania to fly back to Dar Es Salaam via Mumbai. However, Air Tanzania refused to fly them and the family was stranded at Bengaluru since January 9,” sources said.
At KIA, the family was looked after by the airport authorities and airline staff.
“Three Tanzanian nationals who were denied entry into India by immigration authorities are currently being assisted with repatriation flights to their home country. Their welfare needs, whilst in transit, are being looked after by the BIAL team,” a BIAL Spokesperson said.
Now after spending close to a week at the airport the family will fly back to their home country via Muscat on Wednesday as Oman Air has agreed to take them.
The family of four (husband, wife and two children) arrived in India on October 10. They had flown in from Dar Es Salaam to Mumbai and were staying in Goa.
