They say ignorance is bliss. True story.
Basically, the song is about a mama Joh came across, and was trying to get her number so he could let her know what's up. Let's break it down.
Then kuna "I'ma gonna", which means "I'm going to going to", what in the universe does that mean?...beats me.
"I'ma gonna holla atcha"....Picture binamu yako katoka uchagani/usukumani na lafudhi yake nzito ya ki-lugha, halafu anajaribu kuongea kama 'mtoto wa mjini'.....that's how Joh sounded like, trying that Fresh Prince's. It's appalling.
That chorus is totally trash. One minute minute Joh is being nice and polite tryna get the mami's dials "Excuse me miss, can I get your number?", then he goes "I'm gonna holla atcha" (I'm going to call you). When you're asking a mama for her number, the obvious question will be why do you want it, or/and why should you get it. Saying "I'm gonna holla atcha" indicates that you got the number and have established some sort of a relationship already, which is not the case here. The perfect response would be "I'd like to holla atcha" or even the cocky "I wanna talk to ya" wouldn't be so bad.
