From where I stand the election (mainland) reflected the desires of the people. A clear majority voted for JPM. Besides, that is water under the bridge. There is no question that a concerted effort is being made to clear up. This is causing some stagnation. Lets see if atrophy or invigoration will result.

He wants to rig the next election but before he gets there he has to rejig the economy. Between you and me CCM will be overthrown not by the opposition but by their colossal economic mismanagement.
As more and more resources are wasted in beefing up the police, the security forces and the army the economic downturn also is gaining a hurtling momentum.
The banks, the ports and now the TRA are feeling the heat of his gross economic mismanagement and his lack of political skills is all out for everyone to see as families find it even harder to make ends meet.
It will be the heckles and boos that greet him and his recalcitrant sidekicks on the podiums and paradoxically not UKUTA threats of social unrest which will persuade him to do the following:-
1) Lower significantly the taxes to jumpstart an ailing economy,
2) End the crackdown on the opposition,
3) Backslide on Dodoma wastrel the economy can hardly afford it!
4) Aggressively redirect his synergies on curbing government waste behind higher taxes. Failure to arraign upon government waste is fuelling pressures to hike taxes to subsidize massive theft and rampant abuse of public office.
5) Acknowledging the constitutional review process was hijacked by anti change elements within the old guard in his own party and a renegotiated mother law is unavoidable involving all major stakeholders.
6) .....relearning UKUTA are not the cause but the beneficiary of his unpopularity.
7) ......why go on? JPM lacks the gravitas to solve any of the above consummate challenges
The truth this an outsize IN-TRAY calls for a new leader with a new vision not clattered with over two decades in ccm tutorials....and these are some of the reasons he will miserably fail.

Spot on! JPM lost the last election this is why he deludes himself curbing their rights will give him a fair shot in the next election where transparency rooted on new technologies will pip the capabilities of NEC to announce rigged results in his favour without unleashing civil unrest.
What JPM has wantonly being misled is in the misidentification of ccm unpopularity: he errs in blaming the opposition but the truth is it is the ccm economic mismanagement which narrates why now than ever before relinquishing power to the opposition is no longer a matter of "if" but "when"....
Just like the British colonial rule rudely found out that the police cannot suppress an idea whose time has just arrived.
If you rummage upon JPM appointments there is nothing to suggest a change in tactics let alone strategies. The same failed hands are being entrusted to reinvent themselves while we know they will never do so.
As the "Napes and the Mwinyis" continue running this nation the electorate will continue feeling alienated as ccm seemly entrapped in the politics of sustenance of nepotism, sycophancy and kinships at the cost of meritocracy....why stay in power if the rot is synonymous with this avaricious ruling clique?

Here I agree with you sentiment. Many JPM supporters are very disappointed with the cessation of live coverage of the Bunge, and believe the ban on political rallies due to "insecurity" is close to illegal. However that is a matter for the courts to decide.

Courts are not independent as Mtikila found out in his incessant litigations over "independent candidates".
But perhaps far significant is a recognition of courts are means to justice but not justice itself. If courts flounder the general public will begin asking themselves why the judiciary fails them time and time again. The populace needs no introduction over this as judicial victimization is part and parcel of their miserable lives.
Civil rights and liberties ALWAYS rock notwithstanding the excruciating intrigues in judicial corridors where technicalities rather than merits of case triumph.

A ban on opposition political activities is unconstitutional and anchoring his administration away from the rule of law has rendered this regime more of a lawbreaker and as a result will find it extremely difficult to urge good governance while displaying such a bad example as a pathological trespasser of the law.

Were political parties free to campaign in the run-up to the election? It certainly seemed so. The only way to protest successfully is peaceful, non violent protest. Agitators, self-indulgent idiots for the most part, simply fall neatly into the trap. Instigating revolt is irresponsible and simply wrong. There are clever and effective ways of protesting and bringing about change. Those that initiate any violence should be accountable. This applies to the organs of the state, and those organising demonstrations that have been declared as "illegal". The authorities should pick their words very carefully as they can also be held accountable for sedition.
We must have faith in individuals, in the both the legal and security institutions. True, these institutions are riddles with lackeys and sycophants, but are also staffed by many honourable just persons of integrity, at all levels.

Let us trust on resilience of institutional reforms as individuals regardless of their want of integrity or talent are always on a conveyor belt. They come and go leaving institutions to outlive them.
I fully subscribe upon peaceful coexistence and its subsequent sustenance. Our history clearly indicate the opposition have always been excellent law abiding citizens but it is insecurities of the regime which foment and foster lawlessness.

I cant help but notice that u seem to be denying that Magufuli is smart, and we demand evidence to that 2015 general election but u are not proposing any fact zaidi ya kuwa maneno mengi yasiyo na maana. Courts will never be independent in dispensing of the justice on the matter which the executive is much more concerned since they work at the pleasure of his appointer. Surely they will never let him down.
It is a point of Paramount significance for judiciary to work independently. This will abridge maliciously defeating of the justice on frivolous technicalities.
