These visits by american and chinese president should remind us of the history of colonization of Africa. The two presidents are now scrumbling for resources in Africa.

The only difference between our old chiefs and the existing leadership is that the old chiefs were easily cheated and let the colonialist take whatever they wanted while the existing leadership are doing the business of selling the resource with full knowledge of the negative impact of what they do.

They know everything[the real names of what they call investors, the amount of money they invest and 10% of their kickback]. No gun or missile this time. It is the 10% that matters and trying to make an impression that we are the most 'loved" and "trusted" among the African countries.

The African presidents have now become the representatives of the American and European powers in Africa. The black representatives of whites interests in Africa

Tanzanias strategic position in the continent, its abundant natural resources and countering Chinas advances to Africa have been cited as some of the reasons why President Barack Obama chose to visit Tanzania in his tour of Africa next month.

Mr Obama, who is the first African American US President, comes just about three months after new Chinese President Mr Xi Jinping visited the east African country.

The US Presidents tour of Africa will start on June 26 and end on July 3. In addition to Tanzania he will also visit Senegal and South Africa. Mr Obama becomes the third consecutive US President to visit Tanzania after Bill Clinton in 2000, and George Bush in 2008.

Experts who spoke to The Citizen shortly after the tour was confirmed by both the US and Tanzanian governments on Tuesday argued that Mr Obamas visit, coming hot on the heels of his Chinese counterpart, is not coincidental.

The visit, they add, is the continuation of a scramble for resources between the two major economic superpowers.

Prof Issa Shivji, the head of the Mwalimu Nyerere Professorial Chair in Pan-African Studies at the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM), told the daily that the shifting centres of global economic and political power, the growing economic muscle of the most of Asia and Tanzanias strategic position and its natural resources abundance are some of the reasons why Mr Obama is visiting Tanzania, in particular, and the continent in general.

The White House says U.S. President Barack Obama will travel to Africa this summer, visiting three countries.

In a statement Monday, the White House says President Obama along with his wife, Michelle, will travel to Senegal, South Africa and Tanzania in late June and early July.

The administration says Obama will meet with government officials as well as leaders from business, civil society and youth groups.

It says the trip - from June 26 to July 3 - will reinforce the close ties between the United States and sub-Saharan Africa.

President Obama, whose father is from Kenya, traveled to the region once during his presidency, visiting Ghana in 2009. Michelle Obama has also traveled to South Africa and Botswana during her time as first lady.

The White House says the upcoming trip will focus on strengthening economic growth, democratic institutions, and African leadership.

Na wanalitambua hilo bayana kwamba lazima mtu kuwa na uwezo wa kutoka na kwenda kuvuna toka nchi za mbali. Walikuja kiaina kama missionaries na kusaini mikataba na wazee wetu. Zamani tulisema wazee walikuwa na elimu duni na pia kulikuwa na ma-puppets waliochukua vitu poor vya wazungu na kusaini mikataba hiyo.

Hadi leo karne ya 21 hakuna kilichobadilika. Ma-puppets walewale wapo na ndio wanasaini mikataba ya kurubuni watu kwa ahadi ya shanga wakibadirishana na mawe ya dhahabu, ipo na inaendelea. Shule haijatukomboa bado tunaogelea kwenye wimbi la mitego ya wazungu. Walikuja enzi hizo kuchukua vilivyoonekana kwa technologia yao ya wakati ule, sasa wanakuja kwa styile ileile kuchukua vitu vinavyoonekana kwa technologia ya sasa.

Watakuja zaidi mbele ya safari, si ajabu hata majani ya miti na nyasi vikawa mali sisi tumevikalia. Vizazi vyetu vitapita wajukuu zetu historia wataisoma maisha yataendlelea iwe kwa raha au dhiki. Cha kufanya hapa ni kujitoa sadaka kizazi hiki. Tukubali kuanza kujenga nchi na kuendeleza watu wetu kwa mali tulizojaliwa na Mungu na sio kujiendeleza sisi wenyewe na familia zetu kana kwamba sisi ndio generation ya mwisho.
