kenyan channels are dissapointing i can only watch k24 and citizen despite having the latest decorder and a 1.8m dish

I have a 6yr old 90cm dish that has been badly mutilated by the elements and i wanted to give it a new lease of life by painting it.
any tips? eg what type of paint and procedure?.
I'm clueless and googling

Sorry Mtuko2, did you try E5WA I was talking of for KTN?

If I recall correctly, first wash it thoroughly to clean it. Then apply ConTar glue on it and place some aluminum foil on it, ensuring it's totally adhered to the dish surface. Once this has set, paint it matt black. I'm sure Kúng'ú can elaborate on the same, he once did it with stellar results.

Hi friends,
I'm trying to update an old satellite receiver
without a usb port with a laptop but no luck,i have an rs232 to usb cable any help ll be appreciated.

What you require, most probably, is a null-modem cable.

Hi Ranksat,
I have null modem cable but still the laptop does not have 9pin port?

Hello Banysat,

Incase your laptop does not have rs232 port,then you should not worry at all. First you need usb to rs 232 cable which are readily available locally;

Rs232 to usb cable.jpg
And also your null modem cable;

Null-Modem-Cable.jpg

then you join the two cables so that the usb goes to your laptop & the other end of your null modem cable goes to the receiver.
My laptop does not have rs232 port too.So all along, i have been using these two cables joined together.Note that the usb to rs232 cable end is male (9 pin) which joins one female end of null modem cable ( 9 pin).

For those who wish to combine nilesat 201 with Ses5/Astra 4A here is the set up;

Nilesat & SES 5 on one dish.jpg

My set up is 120cm offset dish.The lower lnb capturing SES5/Astra 4A whereas the upper lnb capturing nilesat 201.

Both CNN & ADMC Signals being stable @ 80% quality;

Thanks Ranksat. I did a bit of digging and found the post with Kungu's process in another forum. Apparently the foil is only for fibre dishes for metal its just the matt paint

Consider seeking the service of car sprayers. A thin coat of paint is what the dish requires so that the focal length of the dish is not affected. A zinc paint is great to minimize corrosion.
Good lack.

Could it be the loader? Which receiver are you talking about? Try switching it OFF then On after doing the connections,

Hallo Mwangi57,

Am using eurostar T2 gold for Nilesat & the normal single eurostar for Ses5/Astra 4a.
I am not having SES4, but still it can be incorperated on the same set up.One will require an extension holder between 25cm - 30cm size whereby ses 4 lnb will be above nilesat 201. I will set up & post pictures later on.

For you to know the exact com port that you have connected your usb to rs232 cable simply do the following;
a) Connect usb to rs 232 cable to your laptop.
b) Right click my computer icon.
c) Double click manage.
d) Double click device manager.
e)Expand the " Ports ( Com & LPT).
f))From there you will see the exact COM PORT number for your usb to rs232 cable.
e) Open the software loader and change the required Com Port.
g) From there you attach the receiver software & press connect.
h) Switch ON your decoder for software transfer to take place.
i) Never switch of your receiver untill upload is complete.

I have a Toshiba 40" n the picture is crazy clear,wudnt trade it for another. So just look around dont go by name. Contrast is important n of course it has to be FULL HD.good luck Regiment.
