African Satellite World and Sat Gear

African Satellite World and Sat Gear

Hi guys,
i have recently had to move my 7W dish to a location approximately 50m from the house. The increased cable length took my signal strength from 93%to 75% and when i hook up my budget sat meter it goes to ~35%.
Can i get a lock on 7W at such low signal strength or do i need an inline amplifier?

multi choice confirms espn have ditched the African and middle east market

This is a press release from
Multichoice concerning ESPN who
have decided that they do not
want nor need the African
market -afterall, we aren't exactly
what is considered to be "prime
market".
MultiChoice would like to notify
its DStv subscribers that it has
received notification from ESPN
that it intends to close the ESPN
and ESPN Classic Television
Channels in Africa on 31 July
2013. This appears to be a
business decision by ESPN
affecting all its channels in
Africa, Europe and Middle East.
MultiChoice will keep its
subscribers informed of
developments in this regard and
would like to thank them for
their continued support.

From the little I know so far, cable run from lnb to decoder should not exceed 30m. Beyond that, signal loss becomes significant and an in-line amplifier is indicated. Additionally, ensure you get a good quality cable, preferably RG6 as opposed to the cheaper RG56. All the best.

i envy the Tanzanians, all their channels free on the easiest bird to track. when will our CCK wake up and reign in all our channels and harbour them in a powerful bird that we can nab with 60 cm dishes.

If that wish were a horse, ASAS victims would ride:smile-big:

msondaa Itd true the Humax decoders that are married to ADMC will be a lot useless. I wonder the pricing of the jsc cards will be like how now?

hope ADMC boxes do not become useless. ADMC networks might probably bought by JSC this would help retain customers formally owned by former and meet EPL conditions. That's my guess.

That would be great! One card with both JSC and ADMC services together would rival dsthieves any day. I would definetley get one. Now we wait and see how the pricing changes for jsc..am getting one either way

After consulting with various ASAS addicts, i have come up with three possible scenarios on JSC's epl rights.
1. They produce a new jsc decoder and new jsc card. The two new products will be married hence you cant use the card on another reciever.
2. They buy out ADMC and enable the humax decoders to accept the new jsc card. Humax owners will be very happy with this deal as they will continue using their boxes to recieve epl.
3. JSC remains as it is. ie. jsc $$$$ channels are easily opened by dongles, cccam and biss keys which are widely aailiable on the net.

For diehard football fans, option no. 3 is the best but we all know that jsc have to recoup their money and make a profit at the end of the day.
To all of you who want to rush and buy a jsc card, my advise is wait. Epl is starting on 17th August and by then the dust will have settled and the way forward will be clear. keep your fingers closed and hope for the best.
