So far govt of Tanzania has only given out Tshs290 billion ($125 million dollars) for construction of the SGR that requires $1.2 billion dollars. Where is the rest of the money and please break it down for us to be at par with what is in the ground na usitoe povu jibu kwa hoja kamilifu.

President Uhuru Kenyatta has secured an additional $3.59 billion from China to extend SGR from Naivasha to Kisumu.

Uhuru secured the amount that will be available immediately at a meeting with Chinese President XI Jinping on Monday.

“The President wants the railway to reach Kisumu then Malaba especially because of the new port that is being built [there],” said State House Spokesman Manoa Esipisu.

Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir on Tuesday announced plans to build a railway system linking Sudan to Ethiopia and South Sudan.

"We will connect [Sudan’s] railway lines to Ethiopia," al-Bashir said while inaugurating a new train line linking capital Khartoum to the city of Wad Madani, the regional capital of Sudan’s central El Gezira State.

We also seek to link our railway to South Sudan so that it might serve as a transit hub with Kenya and Uganda, thus facilitating the movement of people and goods to those countries," al-Bashir added.
He did not provide a date for the project’s completion.

Landlocked Ethiopia and South Sudan both depend on seaports in neighboring states -- such as Sudan, Djibouti, and Kenya -- to export goods abroad.

Tanzania ina fight for Ugandan route in two fronts, moja ni SGR kagera-Kyaka-Mtukula (mind you haipiti Mwanza kama unavyo fikiria wewe. Ya pili ni meter gauge Tanga-Arusha-Musoma-victoria. Wakenya na wachina wote mmeshidwa kuwashawishi waganda kama wakiuganisha treni yao to Mombasa watapata faida gani. The way things are, wanaweza kujijengea reli yao wakafika mpaka South Sudan na kuendelea. Wanaweza waka piggyback network ya Tanzania wakifika mpaka South Africa. Ndio maana nikasema Back To Square One maana ni lazima mjiulize mara mbili hii SGR italipa au vipi.

Oil waligundua 2005 ..... miaka 12! baada ya kuzindua mafuta na miaka miwili baada ya kupata mfadhili wa bomba, bado hawajaanza ujenzi! Kumbuku miaka hio miwili iliopita Lamu port ilikua bado iko kwa makaratasi, leo hii imefika 45% complete, bado ujenzi wa bomba lao halijaanza.

SGR ya kenya ilanza 2014, 4 years later tumemaliza phase 1 472km na phase 2A iko mbioni wakai phase 2C pesa zishatafutwa............ Alafu Uganda ako na guts ya kutulaumu sisi eti tunawachelewesha timeline yao!!!!????? ni mega projects ngapi za above $500m wamemaliza in the last decade?
