Within the last six months? I am speechless but all you need now is an Oscar award. My list is simply too long.
I just finished "Quantum: A Guide For The Perplexed". Fascinating insight into Quantum Physics.
I enjoy biographies. I am a big fan of David McCullough. His Pulitzer winner "Truman" makes you feel like you are living with the characters in the book. I enjoyed it very much when it came out.
I did enyoy The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy immensely when I read it in the nineties. Adams must have been smoking some kind of mushrooms when he wrote this book. When I think of "Vogon poetry" sometime link that to some of our politicians speeches.
I am heavily biased towards non fiction. Economics, behavioral sciences (I just finished Malcolm Gladwell's "Talking to Strangers: What We Know About The People We Should Know", well worth the read) current affairsand politics (I recently read Francis Fukuyama's "Identity: The Demand Fir Dignity and The Politics of Resentment". It gave me a better understanding if people like Mohamed Said.
I like science. I enjoyed immensely Stephen Hawking's "A Brief History if Time: From The Big Bang to Black Holes" in the nineties. I recently read his posthumously published book "Brief Answers To The Big Questions".
I enjoy reading about philosophy and religion. "The Philosophy of Religion: An Anthology" was such an eye opener when I read it in the mid 1990s.
I am trying to get back into fiction. The last fiction book I read was "A Gentleman In Moscow" by Amor Towles. Fascinating read. It is another period piece that takes you from the pre-Bolshevik Russia to the revolution era and beyond, through the eyes if an aristocrat gentleman and a little girl, trapped in the grand hotel of Moscow.
I like essays. I recently gathered to courage to mount the brick sized tome that is Christopher Hitchen's "Arguably: Selected Essays" . The man has encycloepadic knowledge of extraordinary proportions.
I recently read "India: A Portrait" by Patrick French. Very goid for aquinting onesekf with the idiosyncracies of India.
Bill Bryson is another author I find very interesting. His "A Brief History of Nearly everything" was very fascinating. He has a new book about the body, I have bought it but I haven't had the pleasure if reading.
David W Blight's "Frederick Douglas: A Prophet if Freedom", a Pulitzer winner, was another fascinating read I devoured in the oast few months. I thought I knew a lot about Mr. Douglas, until I read this book.
These are some of the books I have enjoyed, mostly within the last 6 months, if not stated..
A full list would simply be too long.
Good, I finished Think and Grow Rich last year. It made me took at life differently. One thing Hill said and I liked is " Always do more what you are paid for''.I have read these books
1. Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill
2. As a Man Thinketh by James Allen
3. Who Will Cry When You Die by Robin Sharma
4. The Instant Millionaire by Mark Fisher
5. How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie
6. The Richest Man in Babylon by George Samuel Clason
7. Master of the Game by Sidney Sheldon
8. The Alchemist by Paul Coelho
Etc.
The overarching reason for reading those books is: They make me a better person day after day, I learn a lot of things, I discover some important secrets, just to mention a few.
Thank you for sharing. You are truly appreciated.Dreams from my Father By BARACK OBAMA
Good.Quran is my favorite book, i used to read only that book.
Tunasubiri.Hili limenifanya nisome tu uzi bila kuchangia, maana nikaogopa kidogo.
Thanks for all the fish, ni tittle ya fourth book ya Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy na Maana yake ni kusema ''goodbye" na tittle yenyewe inasomeka "So Long and Thanks For All the Fish". Pole Malcon ni kitabu kizuri sana. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: The Trilogy of four kuna mtu aliingia kwangu akakiiba wakati sijaanza hata kukisoma, halafu mbaya zaidi nimeachiwa nikisome na mtu mdogo wangu mwaka 2007 hiyo. Nakumbuka kuna siku mdogo wangu alikuwa anasoma kwa nguvu sura moja inasema something like "Thanks to all the fishes" hata nimesahau.
