Yes it's a great book Nowonmai, very easy to read and short. I enjoyed it.
It has been a rough couple of weeks. I just moved to a new state. It feels kinda wired and boring. At least I am enjoying reading. Sure, It's enjoyable.

There, I think "the people, the creatures, the races..they both mean the same thing, aren't they? Trolls, Men, hobbits, Ents,Dwarves, Orcs etc.

Excuse ignorance Mr, but is "The Fellowship of the Ring" a trilogy or something? isn't a single book that fall under TLOTR volumes?

By the way, I started "The Silmarillion" last night, unfortunately, I should take a break from reading. You see I just woke up with flu. There is no way I can concentrate.

In the middle earth I see humans who have lost their humanity eg Gollum, those who have kept it eg Bilbo, Froda and company, and Arathorn.

Of course I am working from the basic tenet that humanity equates to being good as opposed to evil.

I also see the magical creatures who are adhering to the good eg the dwarves and elves, and those who have converted to evil eg the orcs and the ringwraiths.


It is not far from Jonathan Swift’s Gulliver’s Travels 2 where the Yahoos are human but behave like monkeys while the Hynhymhyns are donkeys but behave like human.

It is interesting to note that a powerful cause for converting to evil is clinging to political power as symbolized by the ring much as Joan K Rowling’s creation in Harry Potter, Voldermort, seek immortality (power over death) by preserving pieces of his soul in hocruxes through murder though in The Lord of the Rings the scope is broader.

Yes. The Lord of the Rings is an epic trilogy containing The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers and The Return of the King though there other books by Tolkien on the Middle Earth and more(soft copies requested- The Simarillon for instance)


All the best in your new state Paula. Hope it is not Maine. Place is “muchee” cold. No wonder Stephen King excels in writing horror! The winters of Maine are surely made for IT.

I am currently reading Nature Revealed by Edward O Wilson but for no reason I can discern I suddenly recalled The Honourable Schoolboy by John le Carre and hence “muchee”
