Ninachosema na kuna research paper nimeandika, "Islam and Politics in Tanzania," (1989) nimeeleza kuwa serikali iliivunja EAMWS kuzuia wasijenge Chuo Kikuu.

Kuanzia hapo serikali haitambui jumuia yoyote ya Waislam na kuna kundi kubwa la Waislam limejiweka mbali na BAKWATA.

Kwani mmezuiwa kujenga chuo kikuu mpaka sasa? Hii generation mpya ya waislam post independence wanafanya nini kuhusu maendeleo ya waislamu kijamii na kiuchumi? Mkijenga chuo kikuu kiendeshwe kwa misingi ya kidini hakiwezi kukua (MUM), watanzania wana dini ila nchi ni secular. Hata taasisi za kidini za wakristo zimejikita zaidi kwenye kutoa huduma za kijamii zaidi kuliko kukomaa na misimamo ya kidini .
 
Bila control ya taasisi za kiislam tungekuwa na Alshabab Tanzania,serikalia kuwafosi kuwa na taasisi moja inyitambulika rasmi sio mbaya . There is a very thin line between Islamic extremism and liberal islam tuliyonayo Tanzania.

Katika wale 29 walioshinda tena sema mwenyewe. Katika asilimia 29 waliokwenda shuleni ni asilimia 79. Katika asilimia 71 waliokwenda darasa la tisa ni asilimia 21.

Sasa kuna moja, ama Waislamu wajinga ama akili yao haifanyi kazi, ama mtu ukiwa Muislamu wewe huna kitu, ama kuna kitu.

Sasa namwomba Waziri anayehusika, anaposema aseme ya kwamba kwa hali ilivyo Waislamu wameumbwa wajinga. Au kwa hali ilivyo kuna sababu kadha, kadha. Mwalimu Nyerere alisema zamani ifanywe bidii ya kuwanyanyua waliokuwa chini. Sasa bidii hii siyo ya kuwanyanyua waliokuwa chini. Bidii hii ni ya kuwakandamiza waliokuwa chini.''

Waziri wa Elimu hakuwa na jibu.

Serikali inatambua kuwa hii ni fitna kubwa na inagawa wananchi katika makundi mawili makubwa kwa imani zao.

Serikali inayajua haya na imekuwa kimya kwa hofu.

Ndugu yangu jiweke wewe kwenye hali hii ya Waislam kama ilivyoelezwa hapo juu ndiyo utaelewa tatizo hili.

Waislamu wa karne hii wanataka haki ya kula kitimoto na kusuka rasta ndefu na kuonyesha umbo la makalio, vyuo vya kiislam vitapata wanafunzi wachache sana kama chaguo la mwisho. Hata huko Iran wadada wanataka haki ya kuonekana nywele zao.
