Historia ya Uhuru isimuliwavyo na Mohammed Said yakosolewa

Hivi kule Tunisia, Libya, Misri, Yemen, Syria, Lebanon, Somalia,..., Qur'an haipo nini? Hakuna vitabu vimeivuruga dunia kama vitabu hivi viwili, Biblia na Qur'an. Walioviandika hawapo kama ambavyo Mohamed hatokuwepo kitabu chake kikianguka mikononi mwa vichaa fulani wakakifanyia kazi. Kusoma na kuelewa ni vitu viwili tofauti.
 

Jingine pia, nilitoa mfano humu na kuorodhesha idadi ya shule binafsi in 1988, miaka minne kabla ya hiyo so called MoU ndani ya mkoa wa Mbeya. Kulikuwa na shule nyingi binafsi za sekondari zaidi ya mara mbili ya zile zilizokuwa Dar. Wilaya ya Rungwe pekee ilikuwa na Shule nyingi binafsi kuliko Mkoa wa Dar es Salaam. Sasa usipojiuliza kwa nini basi itabakia speculations na hisia ambazo hazitusaidii. Kama we sincerely go deep na kufanya utafiti tutajua tatizo ni nini. Shule za sekondari za serikali zilikuwa chche sana wakati huo hivyo option ikawa shule binafsi, je zilijengwaje na nani na zilijiendeshaje. Na kwa nini Dar kwenye high population, wasomi, wenye hela enzi hizo kulikuwa na shule chache sana?

Julius Nyerere's process to sainthood widened this week, following a revelation of an extra ordinary thing that Mwalimu did in 1999. The move by the BBC World Service to bring together sons of the two former East African leaders whose hostility toward each other

Jaffer Remo Amin, the son of Uganda's former president, Idi Amin and Madaraka Nyerere, the son of former Tanzanian President Julius Nyerere, met on Thursday at Butiama Village, Mwalimu's birthplace amidst joy and fraternal love. Prior to this encounter, BBC aired programmes that portrayed Mwalimu as a unique leader, doing equally unique things that could accelerate his process to sainthood, according to the Catholic Church's tradition.
Though a devout Catholic himself, Mwalimu is said to have raised $400,000 for the construction of a beautiful mosque at Butiama, to serve the population of about 200 muslims who live in the midst of a predominantly Christian community of at least 10,000 at the time. And who donated that big amount? It was Muammar Gadhafi, the current Libyan leader. According to Vicky Ntetema, a BBC journalist who covered the event in Butiama last week, Mwalimu was approached by the local muslim community, asking him for financial assistance to renovate their mosque that was in bad shape.

The Secretary of Butiama Masjid Rahman Mosque, Mr Suleiman Juma, told the BBC that Mwalimu told the Islamic leaders that he was travelling and that he would give them a reply of their request on return. Mwalimu Nyerere who was by then retired, was travelling to Libya for a meeting where he met Mr Gadhafi and told him to contribute some money for the renovation of a mosque in his home village in Tanzania. According to the BBC, Ghadafi responded to Mwalimu Nyerere's request with the following statement: "I have no money for the renovation, but I will give you money for construction of a new modern mosque in your village."
The following day, as Mwalimu waited for his flight back home at the Tripoli International Airport, Gadhafi aides brought him the $400,000 in hard cash -- for the construction of Butiama mosque. Mwalimu brought the money, handed it over to Muslim leaders in Butiama, who later formed a committee to supervise it. The money was used to build a mosque, a residential house for a sheikh and a hostel to accommodate muslim visitors who visit the place. The late Vice-President, Dr Omar Ali Juma, officially opened the mosque on October 13, 2000.

According to Butiama Mosque chairperson, Swahib Araka Ahepe, Mwalimu lived a saintly life, because he reconciled with Ghadafi and made him a friend, even though he had supported Uganda in the war against Tanzania in 1979. The Auxiliary Bishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Dar es Salaam, Right Reverend Methodius Kilaini, told the 'Sunday News' on Thursday that Nyerere's process to sainthood was slowly but surely moving ahead. "The formal process of sainthood involves a complicated process taking time, money, testimonies and miracles and the church follows a strict set of rules in the process," he said.

He added that although some people claim to have received some favours after asking Nyerere to intercede for them, the church was taking each step with a lot of care. He added that what the church was interested in was a scientific miracle about Nyerere, that could be believed without some doubts. On Nyerere's predisposition to forgiveness, Bishop Kilaini said he portrayed that virtue, after he also forgave those who wished to oust him from power.
On Mwalimu's readiness to lend a hand to anyone - irrespective of faith or creed -- Bishop Kilaini said Mwalimu was never a religious fanatic. "Though Catholic himself, he made the state take over schools run by the same church, because he wanted equal services to be enjoyed by all people," he added. Mwalimu Nyerere (1922-1999) has already been declared a Servant of God (Mtumishi wa Mungu), as the first step in the process (cause) of canonization.

The official inauguration of the process took place during a eucharistic liturgy that was celebrated by Cardinal Polycarp Pengo at Butiama Parish in Mara region on 21 January, 2006. One of the statements that Nyerere uttered on Independence Day describes his kind of a person. He said: We would like to light a candle and put it on the top of Mount Kilimanjaro, which would shine beyond our borders, giving hope where there is despair, love where there is hate and dignity where before there was only humiliation.

Humu ndani kimeingia kizazaa akili zao zinashindwa kukubali wanayosikia kutoka kwangu ni mambo mapya na mageni kabisa kuwa murid wa Sheikh Mohamed Ramia Khalifa wa Tariqa Kadiriyya wamepewa amri kuwa wakapige kura na wampigie Nyerere.

Wanashindwa kuelewa kuwa Sheikh Hassan bin Amir alikuwa na zawiyya nchi nzima wamepelekewa amri kuwa wapige kura na kura zende kwa Nyerere.

Huu mtandao ni wa asili ulikuwapo hapo labda nenda nyuma miaka mia na zaidi. TANU ilipokuja Waislam walifanya kazi moja tu nayo ni kubadilisha muelekeo na kumpiga tepe mkoloni wakiwatumia watu hawa.

Bahati mbaya ndugu zetu hawakujaaliwa kuwa na neema hii. Sasa mimi kueleza haya wao wameshtuka sana. Hawakuwa wanayajua haya.

Ala kumbe nguvu ya Nyerere ilikuwa inatokana na watu hawa?

Abdulwahid na Dossa peke yao wazingeliweza kuhimili kishindo kile cha Muingereza ndiyo maana walitaka msaada wa wazee na kukawa na Baraza la Wazee wa TANU masheikh na wanazuoni watupu mle ndani.

Sasa changamoto yangu kwao nawaomba wao wafanye utafiti wa haya nisemayo wasikalie kubeza kuwa ati haya nisemayo ni porojo.

Nilikuwa Ujerumani na nimetoa muhadhara Zentrum Moderner Orient (ZMO), Berlin haya nisemayo humu yamewavuruga akili. Tayari washeleta wanafunzi (Ph D) kuanza utafiti katika somo hili.

Wanasema wakati wa Vita ya Majimaji Waislam waliwapa shida sana askari wao na wanataka kufanya 'comparison" nini kinawasukuma Waislam kuwa wamoja kila wanapohisi dini na nchi yao iko katika kushambuliwa na Ukristo.

Jamaa zangu wao sana sana watafoka, kukejeli na kutoa matusi.

Kwa hiyo mkusanyiko wa simulizi na tafiti kutoka kila kona ya nchi ndio unaoweza kuunganishwa na kutengeneza kitu kinachofanana na historia halisi. Hivyo kila mtu ana fursa ya kuchangia katika kuandikwa upya kwa historia sanifu ya Tanganyika ili kuondokana na historia potofu za enzi 'za zidumu fikra za mweyekiti'. Na kuvumiliana kunahitajika wakati wa kusoma mawazo ya wengine ambayo yataenda tofauti na fikra ulizozizoea...

Jambo hili liliacha kovu kubwa katika fikra za wananchi na kwaupande wa Wakristo ambao walinusurika na ghadhabu ya Wajerumani, wengi waowakajiweka mbali na aina yoyote ya kupinga ukoloni. Kufuatia historia hii Waafrika waliokuwakusini ya Tanganyika sasa wakiwa chini ya utawala wa Waingereza na kuwa chiniya himaya ya wamishonari walipupazwa kiasi kiasi kwamba waliogopa siasa. Baadaya Waafrika kushindwa vita kwa silaha kali za Wazungu sasa Kanisa likaona ndaniya fadhaa ile fursa yao kutawala sehemu hiyo kwa kutoa vishawishi kama vileshule na hospitali. Kwa hiyo Wamishionari na Waingereza walionekana kamamabwana wema wenye kuwajali raia zao kinyume na serikali katili na ya kidhalimu ya Wajerumani. Vuguvugu la siasakama ilivyokuwa Vita vya Maji Maji, lilianza katika maeneo ya Waislam kufuatiamfumo ule ule kama ilivyokuwa katika upinzani wa ukoloni wa Wajerumani.Wakristo katika Jimbo la Kusini waliiona TANU kama walivyoviona Vita Vya MajiMaji, kama harakati nyingine za Waislam zilizowa zinakuja tena kwa mara ya pilikuvuruga amani na utulivu. TANU ilipoanza ikawa inavuma kuwa safari hii Waislamwalikuwa wamemua kuanzisha vita dhidi ya Waingereza kama walivyoanzisha vita naWajerumani."

Ikiwa sitafanya uchambuzi kama historia ilivyokuwa kwa kuogopa ukweli na kutaka kuwafurahisha watu historia hii itapotea.

Mimi ndiyo nishaandika kitabu hiki maktaba zote kubwa duniani kipo pamoja na Library of Congress, Washington.

Vyuo vikuu Ulaya na Marekani ni kimoja katika vitabu vya rejea katika historia ya Tanganyika.

Baadhi ya wahadhiri wa historia ya Afrika nimeonananao na wengine tumefanya minakasha katika vyuo vyao.

Ukweli ni kuwa hiki kitabu kipo njia ya kuweza kukipinga ni moja tu.

Nayo ni nyie kuandika kitabu kitakachopinga hiki changu.
Hakuna njia ya mkato.

Kwa hapa tulipofika ukweli ushajulikana kuwa historia ya uhuru wa Tanganyika iliwatisha baadhi ya watu na hivyo wakaamua kuihujumu.

Si maskhara kitabu hiki kimeninyanyua kwelikweli katika uwanja wa "scholarship."
Haufanyiki mkutano mahali nikaacha kuombwa kutoa "paper."

Hivi sasa tunakwenda kwenye toleo la tatu la kitabu cha Kiswahili.
