Mimi sijapata kuwa mwandishi wa habari.

Labda kwa kuwa umesoma mengi kutoka kwangu ukadhani kuwa mimi ni "journalist."

Mimi ujuzi wangu uko katika historia na nimeandika vitabu kadhaa.

Swali hili la Waislam serikali imelifanya kuwa nyeti sana toka Julius Nyerere alipokuwa madarakani.

Nyerere hakutaka hata kuhuhusishwa na historia ya Waislam waliounda TANU na waliomuweka yeye madarakani.

Nyerere hakupata hata kutoa medali kwa wazalendo ambao kwa hakika haiwezekani kuandikwa historia ya Tanganyika bila ya wao kutajwa.

Hapa nakupa mfano wa Abdul Sykes TANU Card No. 3 na mfadhili mkuu wa harakati za uhuru, Ally Sykes TANU Card No. 2, Iddi Faizi Mafungo Mweka Hazina wa kwanza wa TANU kadi yake No. 24 na mkusanyaji wa fedha safari ya kwanza ya Nyerere UNO 1955.

Umaarufu wangu ulikuja baada ya mimi kuthubutu kuandika kitabu kilichoeleza historia hii ya uhuru kwa ukamilifu na ukweli wake.

Katika historia hii nimeeleza njama iliyokuwapo ya kukandamiza Waislam na Uislam baada ya uhuru kupatikana mwaka wa 1961.

Kitabu hiki kipo na kimechapwa mara nne toka kilipotoka mara ya kwanza kwa Kiingereza mwaka wa 1998.

Kwa ajili hii basi mimi leo sihitaji kumuuliza raisi yeyote kuhusu tatizo hili la Waislam ndani ya serikali zote zilizopita.

Kitabu changu marais wote wamekisoma pamoja na watumishi wakuu wa serikali.

Hiki kilipotoka hakikuwa kitabu cha kawaida kilizungumzwa hadi ngazi za juu kabisa na aliyefungua mlango huu alikuwa Prof. Haroub Othman kwa kumkabili Nyerere.

Mimi nimetafiti sana katika historia ya Uislam Tanzania na kitabu changu kilichokuwa maarufu ni, "The Life and Times of Abdulwahid Sykes (1924-1968) The Untold Story of the Muslim Struggle Against British Colonialism."

Sababu ni kuwa wasomi wa historia wengi wao wakiwa si Waislam waliokuwapo nchini walikwepa "enquiry," hii.

lakini kimsingi hii inadhihirisha wazi kuwa jamii yetu bado ina muskeli kwa namna tunavyowaza kuhusiana na uongozi na utawala wa nchi kwa kudhani kuwa udini ndiyo kigezo cha eti rais kumteua mtu.

Na kama marais huteua kwa kuangalia hilo basi we are doomed, maana ni wazi hawaangalii utendaji kazi wa mtu bali dini yake.

mimi binafsi sipendi nadharia ya udini kwa sababu hata hizo dini zina madhehebu kibao huko ndani. Tukiendelea kuendekeza udini, ipo siku waislamu watalalamika kwamba rais anaangalia pengine wasuni tu.

Vivyo hivyo wakristo watamnanga rais kwamba anawaogopa wakatoliki (kwa mfano) na anawapa vyeo huku madhehebu mengine ya kiprotestant na kipentekoste anawapotezea.

Kikwete baada ya kulalamikiwa hivi hivi, kipindi fulani aligawa hata nafasi za uwaziri, rc, kwa kuchagua kila mkoa wawepo mawaziri na wakuu wa mikoa.

Madhara yake tuliyaona, maana tulipata mawaziri na RCS vihiyo haijawahi kutokea. Uongozi kwa kuangalia nasaba fulani hauna tija kabisa.

Fanya utafiti ndani ya Bunge la Tanzania uangalie udadi ya Wakatoliki dhidi ya madhehebu nyingine.

Kisha idadi ya Waislam.

Nakuhakikishia utapata mshtuko mkubwa sana.

Utajiuliza hii ni bahati mbaya au ni mikakati maalum?

Ukishajua ukweli utaona kichekesho kilichopo ati Waislam kulalamika kuhusu uchaguzi wa Suni katika serikali.

Kwa taarifa ni kuwa historia ya uhuru wa Tanganyika inazunguka katika imani hizi mbili: Uislam na Ukristo.

Umuhimu wa Waislam na Wakristo umejikita kwanza katika ujumla wa wingi wao kuwa dini mbili kubwa.

Pili katika dini hizi mbili Waislam ndiyo wenye historia ya pekee katika kujikusanya kupambana na ukoloni.

Kanisa na viongozi wake hawakujitokeza kuunga harakati za uhuru.

Hii ni tofauti kubwa na Waislam.
Hili nishalieleza sana hapa kwa ushahidi.

Uhuru ulipopatikana uendeshaji wa serikali kwa sehemu kubwa ukawa mikononi mwa Wakristo kwa sababu ndiyo walioelimishwa na kanisa.

Kanisa halina tatizo wafuasi wake ndiyo wanaoendesha nchi hadi hivi sasa kwa mgao wa 80:20.

Kuna watu Waislam wanapodai haki ya kuwemo katika madaraka ya uongozi wa nchi kuna watu huja na hoja ya kuwasemea Wapagani.

Ukiwauliza Wapagani hao wametoka wapi?

Kulikuwa na chama cha siasa kilichokuwa na Wapagani wapigania uhuru?

Jibu ni kuwa hapakuwepo na kamwe hawatakuwapo.

Lakini hoja hii inapendwa sana ikidhaniwa inaweza kuwazuia Waislam jamii ambayo ikiongoza harakati za uhuru katika TANU kudai haki yao.
