Conte resigns as Juventus boss
Antonio Conte has left his role as the manager of Juventus by mutual consent, the Serie A club have announced.
The 44-year-old announced his decision in a video interview on the club's official website - just a day after the start of pre-season.
Juventus also confirmed Conte's decision to step down - citing mutual consent - with chairman Andrea Agnelli delivering a passionate tribute.
"Dear Antonio, you have been a great leader and this news saddens me greatly," he wrote on Juve's official site.
"Three years together have led us to write history with three consecutive titles and two Italian cups.
"You have given a group of highly talented professionals who will be at the disposal of the new coach to continue writing the future.
"You are in the history of the Bianconeri colours and whatever choice you make, a Juventus victory will always make you smile.
"Antonio, thank you for everything. Til the end."
Speaking to www.juventus.com, Conte said time had caught up with him at the club and that the time was right to bid them farewell.
"I have decided to terminate my contract with Juventus," he said.
"I have matured with time and my feelings led me to make this choice. It may be more difficult to keep winning with Juventus.
"An enormous thank you for what you have given to me as a player and as a coach. I have always been close to you. I want to say that the journey taken in recent years has been historic."
Conte, a former Italy international, joined Juve from Siena in 2011 and returned to Turin to a fanfare owing to his standing as one of the club's greatest ever players. He made over 500 appearances in black and white and won five league titles.
That Midas touch continued as he won Serie A at the first attempt with his side going unbeaten throughout the league season.
A second title duly followed but the summer of 2013 saw him embroiled in a corruption row after he was charged with failing to report attempted match-fixing during his time with Siena.
Conte pleaded innocence but was banned for 10 months - a sentence reduced to a four-month touchline suspension last August.
He returned to the dugout midway through last season and duly led Juve to another title, the 32nd in their history.
Conte signed a new deal through to the summer of 2015 earlier this year but now appears to be the man destined to fill Cesare Prandelli's shoes in charge of the Italian national side.
He leaves amid fevered speculation regarding the future of key players Paul Pogba and Arturo Vidal.
Former Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini and ex-AC Milan manager Massimiliano Allegri are already being linked with his position at Juventus.

Conte's conscious uncoupling
This is a conscious uncoupling the ludicrous phrase introduced to the zeitgeist by Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin when announcing their break-up. Juventus and Antonio Conte are doing everything possible to make this easy on the kids (players) and fans, but it just doesnt make sense as an entirely relaxed and mutual decision.
This isnt the kind of move you make on the second day of pre-season training. In fact, it mustve been made on the first day, because a contract termination isnt agreed within hours. It had to be at least a process started last night. What on earth happened to cause such a schism?
Contes issues with the contract renewal had already been clear over the last few months, but were knocked down the road after that historic third consecutive Scudetto. He had seemed to resolve the problems around their ambitions, what was expected of him and the squad hed be given to actually achieve those targets.
Seeing Alexis Sanchez go to Arsenal and the on-going saga over Juan Manuel Iturbe mustve stung Contes pride. I get the feeling there was more to it, as Juve might be considering a big sacrifice to fund new moves. There are only two players who fit that bill: Paul Pogba and Arturo Vidal. Conte expressed irritation when Emanuele Giaccherini was sold to Sunderland, but losing a truly key player when expected to push for Champions League victory would be too much.
Conte will not be the Sir Alex Ferguson of Juventus. By Italian standards, three years is like 25, so perhaps he was their equivalent of Fergie. A Coach does not have a long shelf-life in Italy and people only remember the last result. Just ask Marcello Lippi after his return to the Azzurri bench. Perhaps Conte feared being torn to shreds, the same way Cesare Prandelli was after the World Cup regardless of all previous good work, if he failed to make history yet again.
President Andrea Agnellis open letter made me think, too. Only two months have passed since the last great victory and Juventus must continue their journey. This club is gifted today with a young, ready and cohesive group of directors who over the years have been able to find the ambition and determination to achieve any target.

Can any of the available tacticians out there be remotely suitable? Roberto Mancini, Massimiliano Allegri dont tell Andrea Pirlo! and Luciano Spalletti are the only genuine candidates right now. Hardly a prestigious bunch. Maybe Juve will follow Romas path and look abroad for their Coach, finding someone who is separate from the endless controversy that inevitably follows the Old Lady around. Either way, theyve got to do it quickly or start this season in utter chaos.

Ahsante sana Mkuu agosti 8 lakini wakati mwingine hawa watu wanaoongoza klabu huwa wanakera sana, mpaka sasa hakuna kitu cha maana klabu imefanya kuimarisha kikosi ili kuendeleza pale tulipoachia msimu uliopita, zaidi ya kina Agnelli na Marotta wanataka kuuza wachezaji wetu mahiri.
