Nchi ya Kenya Kupitia Mgongo wa Jumuiya ya Afrika Mashariki EAC inafanya juhudi kubwa ya kuishinikiza na kuihujumu Tanzania Kwa kuwarubuninkina Rwanda,Burundi na DRC Ili kufungua njia Mpya ya usafiri wa barabara.
Ushoroba unaopigiwa chapuo na Kenya ni WA Central Corridor ambao unaanzia Barabara ya Kutoka Mombasa-Voi-Taveta/Holili-Arusha-Singida Hadi Bujumbura via Kahama kwamba itapunguza umbali wa Transit goods Kwa zaidi ya km 350 badala ya Ushoroba wa Northern Corridor wa kutoka Mombasa-Kampala-Kigali Hadi Rwanda/DRC.
Lengo la Kenya sio kuwasaidia wasafirishaji Bali ni kuua Bandari ya Dar na kupokonya Wateja wa Tanzania ambao ni Rwanda,Burundi na Kaskazini mwa DRC ambao wanatumia Njia ya kuanzia Bandari ya Dar-Moro-Dodoma-Singida-Kahama Hadi Nchi hizo.
Naomba Serikali isikubali Kufa ya jambo hili Kwa Kisingizio Cha mtengamano wa Jumuiya ya Afrika Mashariki na kukuza biashara maana itapunguza zaidi ya robo ya mizigo Bandari ya Dar na kuifaidisha Mombasa.

My Take: Kama Wakenya Wana hamu sana ya Kutumia njia hiyo ni Bora Serikali iwaeleze kwamba itafungua njia hiyo mara baada ya kukamilisha ujenzi wa njia zifuatazo:
1. Kupanua kina na kununua vifaa vya Kisasa Bandari ya Tanga.
2. Kujenga Barabara ya Kutoka Tanga-Handeni-Kibaya-Chemba-Singida
3. Kujenga SGR ya kutoka Tanga-Same-Arusha-Musoma
4. Kujenga na kuimarisha Bandari ya Musoma pamoja na kununua meli ya kubeba treni/behewa za mizigo.
Tukifanya hayo ndio Sasa tutaweza kushindana vizuri na Bandari ya Mombasa vinginevyo itakuwa ni kujitia dole mwenyewe na kupoteza pambano la Biashara ya logistics Kwa knockout.

Transporters accuse Tanzania of laxity in geofencing the Arusha-Singida road, which forms part of the Northern Corridor, but some observers blame it on the insidious competition for business between Mombasa and Dar es Salaam ports.
If the corridor increases efficiencies, importers and exporters in some parts of Tanzania, Burundi and DRC might prefer Mombasa to Dar es Salaam as their port of choice.
Transporters between Mombasa and Bujumbura are yet to fully utilise the Voi-Taveta/Holili-Arusha-Singida road network, part of the trunk road between the two cities, because Tanzania is yet to geofence the Arusha-Singida stretch.
A road is geofenced when it has inspection points, and cargo passing through it can be tracked electronically for taxation and to avoid dumping of goods.

The highway, covering 1,545km, was completed in 2018, and is meant to reduce the transit distance from Mombasa to Bujumbura on the Northern Corridor by 358 kilometres.
“We are caught up between the regional ports scramble for business, and that is why we can’t ferry goods past the Taveta One-Stop Border Point, as, past there, the goods would not be tracked and would therefore be declared stolen,” explained Hamisi Juma, a Mombasa transporter.
