The problems is how aid used.Aid never been a problem
It's true Kalonji , but I would like to elaborate about why "It is the problem for African countries"
Let me tell you this!, International aid from IMF, World Bank and all Donor Countries failed entirely because they have relied a lot on monetary aid. Monetary aid often ends up funding corrupt power structures which are part of the problem. But "how it's used" is not a fundamental problem. You know why?, bcoz "you can't make African rich by giving them only money", you can just only make them less poor for a while. The money aids has to be put to work within a society that understands and willing to do something with money to produces and sustains wealth. But in Africa money will just consumed then it's gone, even if it used properly but soon or later poverty will return. You know why?
Because in order for any country to become wealthy, they must create wealth within their country. That is, they must first focus on the development of their citizen by providing better Education with ability to solve problems in their society, ability to self-employed and good employ-ability. Then after that they must focus on
1. Use natural resources to develop their country ( if they have one)
2. Develop internal industries both small scale and large factories
3. Improve agriculture productions
4. To have Access to a global trade
5. focus on productions to exports, this minimize any deficit and keep rich foreign cash reserves,
6. Catch up with modern technology
and last not the least Country should produce something of value to themselves and to the rest of the world.
So the problem with aid to Africa is that!, it does not solve the structural problems. Most African economies are extractive and by giving those economies more funds to extract, it becomes a vicious circle. Aids tries to teach African how to do things to improve their condition, but without the proper context that help them understand why and where they can fit into the global economic infrastructure, they have no real incentive beyond putting the knowledge to work to enhance what they already do, but not grow beyond those limitations.
Let assume this; I give you money and Farm inputs to be a better farmer. But you know what? unless you understand how that opens the door to trade and, combined with the right understanding and ambition, results in the production of excess with the intend of trading it up, it serves only to better enable you to do only what you currently do. Also, you just can't export industry. We forget that in the West, and most of the rest of the developed and developing world, the infrastructure, knowledge and supportive systems that sustain the wealth production capability was built over years. With the infrastructure cones a learned and cultivated ability to know what to do with it, how to use it, and the skills to do so. These things are not so easily exported, but are essential for the infrastructure to be productive.
I insist to say that Aid is problem in Africa. Don't you see its Increase dependency? it's very sad we witness most African countries become increasingly dependent on donor countries, and become heavily indebted. And they go farther to the extent that donor country may place economic and political pressure on the receiving country, forcing them to return the favor. Also some Aids have hidden Agenda of Foreign-Owned Corporations; Foreign aid is sometimes given to a country or recipient to benefit foreign-owned corporations and entities. So the help is not actually directed to the less fortunate, but to its own people.
