What I know is that GDP is never the best yad stick in measuring economic development due to positively skewed effectos on GDP than others.Because of this weakness.GDP must be supported by purchasing power parity.and under PPP one basket of good is always bought using different currencies converted into a vehicle currency in our case the dollar.and under this category PPP of Kenya standard at about $2300 against $1200 of Tz

Yes we are not your benchmark, everybody knows that, but you do use us as your only benchmark yet the gap is widening, check the link shared by NairobiWalker. One thing that majority of Tanzanians fails to understand, Kenya's economy is one of the most diversified and can withstand any shocks. We have the most robust, dynamic and productive human resource.

There was a certain period I worked in Bongo, we were four, two Tanzanians and two Kenyans, working together in the same project office and living in the same apartment but a room for each one. We had opted to live together during the lifetime of the project instead of each renting a hotel room, this served us well as we were able to collaborate till late in the night.

But one thing was for sure, anyone could see and feel it, that Kenyans are a different species as far as work ethics, commitment and discipline are concerned. Bongos would retire early to bed and leave us pulling all nighter jobs with so much energy and gusto. The project was dragging behind schedule, so every effort had to be made to ensure every second, minute, hour was put to good use, productivity, efficacy and efficiency and ensuring strict timelines and adhering to milestones and deliverable were our only motivation.

We pulled it off successfully and boarded KQ with so much pride while playing Nameless 'Narudi nyumbani' with our bank accounts reading a few zeroes more.

Many have been uttered. But for many of us to be frank, are not impressed by a way your economy performing both in growth and development. You have a very lucrative and good stats. But stil you a lot of basic social challenges on ground. The population is still in danger. You can recall the recently doctors strike. One could wonder how a country with good economy stats to have a strike of more than three months? How a country with a good economy numbers to have a good big mass of youths unemployed also the same flee the country. Mimi siku zote nashangaa huo uchumi ni wa kwenye makaratasi tu?? Mbona haujumuishi maisha jumla ya wananchi??

Mimi binafsi sioni Kenya ni mfano mzuri. Ndiyo maana nasema sisi tujiringanishe Namibia na Botswana, those guys are clever than cleverer.

Ana point kubwa sana, na umeielewa, sema tu, uzalendo.

Its true that there was doctors strike in Kenya. But what u must know is that the doctors strike was overshadowed by both greed and lack of patriotism.I wonder that they were striking yet they earn more than their counterparts in East Africa.I also wondered how Tz wanted to give us doctors yet the ratio of doctors to patients in Tz is lower than that of Kenya.Kenya adopted capitalism earlier.it is good in spuring development yet it has a drawback of disparity in development and wealth distribution.I think we are spring it up with socialism in order to bridge this gap because one developmt system is not enough.this is seen in projects such as slum upgrading programs in kibera.primary school upgrading programs eg in kisumu.Devilution of government functions, rural electrification, upgread of rural road.and provisions of different amenities.remember socialism also has its own drawback of making people to be dependent on others.

Tatizo hutumii akili. Kiwango chako kidg sana .ulisoma kata shule ya msingi na sec chuo unaonekana km umesoma KIU.

Hey Breaking News.... New Zealand economy is far greater and advanced than Tanzania's, but their doctors went on strike recently Hospitals coping with doctors' strike. That should educate you with the fact that employees dissension is allowed even in advanced countries, unlike your doctor Ulimboka fiasco.

By the way, the lowest paid doctor in Kenya is paid almost better than the highest paid doctor in Tanzania.

Now you are getting allong with my assertion.
The economy figures doesn't give the fact from the ground.
New Zealand and you have good figures but still you are not meeting the basic needs of your employees e.g. doctors.

Again comparing salaries of employees from different countries can't give real pictures of satisfaction on salaries btn countries. Kenya doctors might put in their pockets much comparing with their counterparts from other eacountries but their cost of living in Kenya is high in such a way it erod that norminal income.

But brother the strike of three months plus is a record breaker. Never heard any whereon earth.

Industrial actions happen everywhere. For starters, the Kenyan doctors were earning about 2.5X more than your doctors.......and the govt was really able to meet their demand of 300% increament, but that would have resulted into some undesirable consequences for the govt expenditures, not to mention opening up the floodgates whereby the other civil servants start pressing for the same.

PPP isnt used to quantify the standard of living in a country per se. It is simply a comparison of the cost of consumer goods betwn countries......by equalizing their currencies into the same unit (usually into the dollar). It's simply used to compare the amount of the consumer goods a given amount of currency can buy in comparison with another currency when converted into the same unit.....clear?
