PARTS OF SPEECH
Words are used for different purposes.They,in other words,perform a variety of functions.
They sometimes,name persons,places and things and on certain occasions,they are used in place of nouns or they describe actions ,show relationships and to combine words or sentences.
Words may also be used to modify a verb ,an adjective or another adverb and to express some sudden feelings.
They are classified into 8 kinds n account of their functions

1.Noun (Nomino)
2.Adjective(Kivumishi)
3.Pronoun(Kiwakilishi)
4.Verb(Kitenzi)
5.Adverb(Kielelezi)
6.Preposition(Kihusishi)
7.Conjunction(Kiunganishi)
8.Interjection (! vihusishi)
Sasa tunaanza taratibu kabisa bila papara:
1.NOUN
A word used to name a person,place,thing,an idea or a quality of mind is defined as a noun.
Example:
- Mother Teresa is a great social worker
- I enjoyed watching cricket
- Democracy is a form of government in which everyone has a share in the administration
- Dictionary is useful for students
- Pain and pleasure go hand in hand
- Knowledge brings wisdom
- Love and hatred are common are common to all human beings.
The underlined words are the best examples of nouns.
In the first sentence,Mother Teresa is the name of a person.
In the second sentence,cricket is the name of a game.
In the third sentence,democracy is the name of the form of government .
In the forth sentence,dictionary is the name of a thing or a book.
In the fifth sentence,pain and pleasure are the emotions.
In the sixth sentence,knowledge and wisdom are the ideas
In the seventh sentence,love and hatred are qualities of mind.
2.ADJECTIVE
A word used to describe or qualify nouns is known as adjective.
Examples:
- Kiswahili is a national language (Hapa inazungumziwa lugha ila inatajwa ni ya taifa "National")
- Sky Eclat is a beautiful girl (Sky Eclat na girl ni girl ni noun ambapo huyo girl anazungumziwa kama mzuri ,"Beautiful ")
- I read a historical novel. (Hapa inazungumziwa novel ila inazungumziwa kama "Historical")
- Sex is an earthly pleasure (inazungumziwa pleasure ila inazungumziwa "Earthly")
- We are entitled to fundamental rights. (Hapa inazungumziwa rights ila kama "fundamental")
The underlined words are examples of adjectives because,in the first sentence ,the word ' national' tells us something about language or describes the noun.
In the same way,the word 'beautiful ' tells us something about a girl and the word 'historical' tells us about a novel,the word 'earthly' tells us about pleasure.
The word ' fundamental ' tells us about rights.
3.PRONOUN
A word used in place of nouns is known as pronoun.
Hapa najua ushakutana na maneno kama he,she,it,they ....Ndio sehemu yake hapa sasa
Examples:
- Sky Eclat is my girl friend.She is very beautiful.
- I visited Dodoma.This is the capital of Tanzania
- Joseph is my friend.He is very kind
The underlined words are pronouns because they stand for persons or thing.
4.VERB
Hapa naongelea actions yani vitendo sijui anakula,anapika ......
A word used to express action,condition or existence is known as a verb.
Examples:
- I waited for Sky Eclat
- She is healthy
- There are spelling mistakes in his essay
The underlined words are verbs.Because ,the word 'waited ' tells us what 'I' did in the first sentence,the word 'is' expresses condition in the second sentence,the word 'are' expresses existence in the third sentence.
5.ADVERB
A word used to modify a verb ,an adjective,or another adverb or a word used to explain how,when,and why an action is performed is known as adverb.
Examples:
- They lived happily
- Sky Eclat is very beautiful
- She speaks English quite well
The underlined words are adverb.In the first sentence ,the word 'happily' modifies the verb "lived".In the second sentence,the word 'very' modifies the adjective beautiful.In the third sentence the word quite modifies another adverb well
6.PREPOSITION
A word used to explain the relation between two grammatical words or a word used with a noun or pronoun to show their relation with some other words in the sentence is known as a preposition.
Examples:
- They boasted about their wealth
- She is angry with me
- I deposited my money in the bank
The word 'about' shows the relation between the verb "boasted" and noun "wealth",The word "with" shows the relation between the adjective 'angry' and pronoun 'me'.
7.CONJUCTION
A words used to combine two words or sentences is known as conjunction.
Examples:
- I visited Dodoma and Arusha last year
- She will come today or tomorrow
- He tried hard but he failed in his attempt.
The underlined words are conjunctions because 'and' joins two words 'Dodoma' and 'Arusha',or joins the two words 'today' and 'tomorrow ' in the second sentence.
The word 'but ' joins two sentences 'he tried hard' and 'he failed in his attempt'.
8.INTERJECTION
A word which expresses some sudden feelings is known as an interjection.
Hapa naongelea maneno unayotumia kushangaa au kushtuka ..hahaha wadada wa sikuhizi wanashtuka fyiiiuuuuuu!
Examples:
- Alas!
- Superb!
- Excellent!
- Well done!
- Well said!
- Fantastic header!(Wale wazee FIFA aka FOOTBALL mnalikumbuka goli la morata vs man u)
- Fantastic!
- Marvelous!
Ila sasa usikalili maneno kwa kudhani yanamaanisha aina fulani ya maneno.Neno hugundulika ni aina gani ya neno kutokana na sentence husika.

- Books are created by mighty minds(Noun)

- Banks play an important role in a country(Noun)
- You should not bank on your friends for help(Verb)
