A team of sixty doctors at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) have made history after successfully operating on conjoined twins.
The operations which has been described as the first of its kind in Africa separated two babies joined at the sacral region of the lower spinal cord.
The doctors performed the Sarcophagus surgery for a period of 23 hours from Tuesday 6am to Wednesday 5am.
The team included pediatric surgeons, neurosurgeons, plastic and reconstructive surgeons, anesthetists and nursing teams.

The twins, Blessing and Favour, were born in September, 2014 in Meru County.
The babies are currently in the hospital's Intensive Care Unit (ICU) under observation and are expected to make full recovery and live normal life to adulthood.
