Watz jameni, wanahabari wenu jasusi walipotelea wapi, hua hakuna mtu anajisumbua ku chunguza vizuri, wengi wenu hua ni kama mazombie vile, mkiambiwa basi nyote mnafwata tu bila kufikiria...
Perhaps you people don't know how electricity generation works, You cannot build a 2100MW power plant then buy cheaper electricity from somewhere else, infact you cannot build a 2100MW power plant, doubling....no, tripling your generation capacity in one swoop... If you build that dam with 2100MW capacity then you are rendering your Gas useless for power generation for a long time, You will end up not using it for power generation because you wont need it..

Let me give you an example, Kenya generation Capacity is 2,400MW, (if you add the recently completed Turkana wind farm it will be 2,700MW) Kenya's current peek Demand is 1,700MW... For electricity to be cheaper, you have to find a very delicate balance between growth rate of demand and generation capacity, If for e.g Kenya finishes building the coal power plant b4 the demand increases this means that a power plant will be idle, you still have to pay for maintanace of an expensive power plant this would mean the cost of electricity will actually shoot up significantly even though you have more power, It will also mean you cant build any new power plant until your demand gets close to capacity, See you can't build new power plants in anticipation of demand, it has to be supported by current data, Right now Tanzania is comfortable with producing 1,300MW with demand bieng lower than that, adding 2100MW + what you will buy from Ethiopia, I think it was 400MW that will be 2,500MW lets say by 2020 (only 3 years from now) your demand would have increased by an extra 1000MW,(which is almost impossible bcoz its astronomical) you will still have an extra 1,500MW you don't need! Which means your customers will have the burden of paying more for electricity they dont use, not unless you can manage to sell it to someone else, Kenya already produces more than it needs and has plans in place to increase her capacity if needed, Uganda has plans for hydro too, am not sure about Rwanda and burundi by I dont think they use that much power, Maybe down south to Malawi or Mozambique..... Just pray the Africa power pool grid will be working by then so you can be able to sell it to some far off country....
Anyway, back to topic, this would mean you won't need Gas to produces electricity in the immediate and midium-term...You will have to use it for cooking only until such a time demand gets higher than 3,400MW, That's Nigeria current generation capacity, and they have triple the number of industries you have. Why do you think Ethiopia is keen on selling a third of its electricity to east Africa at cheaper rate? Between Kenya,Tz,Ug they are planning to sell about 1,200MW, Remember if you sign a deal to buy that electricity frm Ethiopia, You will still pay for it even if you don't use it! So be carefull, it might be cheaper but it will cost you your own hydro plant that you want to build because you will still have to pay for an idle power plant

Bado tunaendelea kusambaza umeme vijijini

A reason there is East Africa n Southern Africa power pool grid.
