Allah says:
"And if thou (Muhammad) art in doubt concerning that which We [Allah} reveal unto thee, then question those who read the Scriptures (that was) before thee. 1112
Qur'an translator,
Muhammad Pickthall says it is Muhammad.
Al-Hilali and Muhsin Kahn also believe it is Muhammad.
So
Regardless, the instruction is the same, and goes in essence:
If you Arabs are in doubt about the revelations of Muhammad, consult the Christians and Jews who have the original revelation. Since this is the case, the Bible could not have been lost or corrupted at that time.
Allah tells Muhammad:
"And We sent not (as Our Messengers) before you (0 Muhammad) any but men whom We sent revelation... So ask of those who know the Scripture... if you know not.""
But today, when a sincere Muslim is confused, he goes to his Imam or so-called "Islamic scholar." the Imam presents a distortion of the truth and the Muslim inquirer gets more confused.
In fact, there are many stories in the Qur'an that one cannot understand without referring to the Bible.
