As the president said, Nairobi is now leading the way for african cities to follow in creating a livable city.
i) Green spaces within the city (Michuki park, Karura Forest, City park etc)
ii) Pedestrian and cycling lanes all across the three districts of the CBD.
iii) A comprehensive public transport system modelled after the european system.(commuter rail and buses)
iv) Better and bigger roads than any other city in the region.(No country in the region has a road like Thika road, Nairobi expressway, a bypass network, or waiyaki way). Uganda has an expressway but it is the same size as outer ring road.
No wonder Nairobi is at the top of the list for foreigners who want to do business in africa.
By the way I came by some document from the world bank, they had projected this project to be operational by 2029 but Kenya is a decade early to the table.
Now the world bank, KR and GOK are setting their sights on a commuter rail system in mombasa which is estimated, will need about 280 km of commuter rail in two phases.
