Naam ni kombora kubwa mnooo la kinyuklia la masafa marefu (ICBM) ambalo wachambuzi wa mambo wanasema ni ktk makombora makubwa mno ya aina yake kuwahi tengenezwa duniani na linaonesha kuwa litakuwa na uwezo wa kusafiri umbali mkubwa zaidi na kubeba vichwa vingi vya nyuklia (multiple independent reentry vehicles, MIRVs) na hivyo kuliwezesha kushambulia tageti nyingi zaidi kwa wakati mmoja lakini pia kufanya ugumu zaidi kwa mifumo ya ulinzi ya anga la adui kulidhibiti (intercept). Wachambuzi wa maswala ya silaha wamelipa jina la 'MONSTER'.
Kim Jong-Un alionekana akiliangalia kombora hilo kwa mapenzi ya hali ya juu wakati lilipokuwa likipitishwa mitaani. Ktk hotuba yake, Kim ameonya kuwa yupo tayari muda wowote ku-mobilize silaha zake za kinyuklia endapo usalama wa nchi yake utatishiwa. Hata hivyo ktk hotuba yake, Kim hakuitaja Washington, bali alijikita na maswala ya ndani ya nchi yake.
Mara baada ya kuoneshwa kwa kombora hilo, US ilitoa tamko kuwa imefadhaishwa na kunyong'onyezwa mno na North Korea kutengeneza kombora hilo ambalo ni ktk silaha haramu. Imeomba mazungumzo ya amani yafanyike haraka zaidi ili mpango wa kukabidhi silaha za nyuklia za North Korea ukamilike.

Kim Jong-Un showed off never-seen-before missiles during a rare predawn military parade as he vowed to “fully mobilise” his nuclear weapons if threatened.
The North Korean leader looked on as a new intercontinental ballistic missile was driven through the streets. The missile was dubbed a “monster” by analysts who said it would be among the largest in the world if it became operational.
An arsenal of long-range weapons, including what appeared to be a new submarine-launched ballistic missile and the long-range Hwasong-15, were on display at Saturday morning’s event.
The parade, to mark the 75th anniversary of the ruling Worker’s Party, was the first the secretive country has held in two years. South Korea’s military said it took place before dawn, though it is not known why.
Threat to ‘fully mobilise’ forces
Just weeks before the US presidential election, Kim Jong-Un postured as he vowed to “strengthen” his military for “self-defence and deterrence”.In a half-hour speech to North Koreans, he warned: “If any force harms the safety of our nation, we will fully mobilise the strongest offensive might in a pre-emptive manner to punish them.”
But Kim stopped short of hitting out at Washington, instead apologising for not delivering on his promise to build an economic powerhouse four years into his rule.
“I am ashamed that I have never been able to repay you properly for your enormous trust,” he said. “My efforts and devotion were not sufficient to bring our people out of difficult livelihoods.”
Show of military theatre
Shedding tears at intervals, he urged his “great people” – many of whom live in dire poverty – to remain firm in the face of “tremendous challenges” posed by the coronavirus pandemic and crippling US-led sanctions over his nuclear programme.His speech was punctuated by thousands of marching troops as tanks, armoured vehicles, rocket launchers and a broad range of ballistic missiles rolled out in Pyongyang’s Kim Il Sung Square.
A military band performed while moving in formation, fighter jets launched flares and fireworks and crowds roared as Kim appeared in a suit and tie as the clock struck midnight.
No foreign media or foreigners were allowed at the event, so analysts are relying on edited state-media footage of the parade. No one at the parade appeared to be wearing face masks, as uncertainty swirls over the extent of North Korea’s coronavirus crisis.
Veiled message to enemies
Experts said that the new, larger ICBM is likely designed to carry multiple independent reentry vehicles (MIRVs), allowing it to attack more targets and making interception more difficult. It was likely designed to dispel doubts about North Korea’s ability to attack the US.The event was the first show of nuclear weapons since Kim began meeting with international leaders, including US President Donald Trump, in 2018.
A senior US administration official called the display of the ICBM “disappointing” and called on the government to negotiate to achieve a complete denuclearisation.
In a congratulatory message to Kim for the anniversary, Chinese President Xi Jinping said he intended to “defend, consolidate and develop” ties with North Korea, according to state media.
