Ndio alifariki jana usiku...innalillaahi wa inna illahi Rajuuun...sijui nanai ataandika obituary ya huyu KIGOGO wetu lakini naamini kuwa he is up there na akina MAZRUIS, Japo miaka ile alikuwa bado ni COMMUNIST lakini he was there with us kwenye Fundraising ya msikiti wa NGAZIJA (DIAMOND jubilee) kwa sababu he understood what it meant kwa watu, its also worth mentioning kuwa in the last years alibadilika na alikwenda hijja kama sikosei mwaka jana au mwaka Juzi.
ni rahisi kusema kuwa we still have his ideas, books, lectures, the records of the debates he waged around the world. But Prof Haroub Othman was a writer you loved as a whole person. You loved the way his laugh filled the room, his confident walk, the easy, mellifluous voice and the sometimes merciless sarcasm from which he would not spare himself.
We will read Prof Othman's works over and over again, and will commemorate his memory in the years to come. But it is hard knowing we will no longer watch him striding into battle, stripping off the varnish from insidious words and tearing the mask from the face of corruption.

The sense of loss felt by the death of such a great intellect, gentleman and friend is immeasurable. His eminent work of decades and all that he stood for will remain forever a monument for justice, and human rights. As a man of courage, graciousness, hope and dedication, his memory will remain forever in our hearts.
