COWI are the best designers...by the way design philosophy ya Europeans ni minimalistic as practicable possible, huwa hawapendi kujenga structures kubwa za stesheni bila sababu, they are about efficiency na ulinzi wa mazingira and biodiversity...
 
Uzuri wa diesel ni reliability when power distribution is the country is not so good. Hata kwamba Kenya imejitahidi kwa electric distribution bado hatuko level ya Japanese china au europe. kwa hivyo for now diesel imetosha. Delays since lauch very minimal. Ethipion are suffering because of this factor. Kazi ya reinforcing electricity distribution Tz inaendalea aje? Kuna new power lines zinajengwa? Ethiopia is a bigger economy with more power, nini inaonyesha reli ya Tz itakua more reliable?
Ata baadaye electrification ikifanywa treni za diesel zitafanya kazi bila wasi wasi.

that's the Arema standard bro, they are not keen on embankment. Because of that, Ethiopia has already suffered one derailment and countless accidents with animals in the track.
But the one running in Ethiopia is a Chinese standard, the other one is still under construction

Chinese class 2 which has a lot of similarities with Arema especially on embankment and slope gradient, tonnage etc that reduce construction costs but has high running and maintenance costs.

But we also have drainages in addition to higher embankments... Infact this incident that happened during constructionback in 2016 is a very good example of the benefit of higher embankment....

There was heavy rain that caused flooding, The drainage system to diret water flow had not been done, The embankment concrete protection had not been finished.... But despite all of that, the railway was still structurally sound! the rail itself was not touched!!!!
Can you imagine how the situation would have been different if the Rail was low on the ground with the drainage system still not done??? Everything would have been swept away!!

Even with the best drainage system, Mother nature can still F4Ck you up when water level rises beyond the the drainage height and over flows... Especially these days with global warming and all where we are seeing longer dry seasons then all of a sudden the mother of all flooding that have never been seen before..
