Kuundwa AA kulikuja baada ya kuwepo kwa amri inayozuia watu weusi kuingia kwenye ukumbi wa starehe wa wazungu pale Karimjee ya zamani pale ilipo NBC makao makuu posta Baharini, hivyo kama hatua ya kuwasaidia watu hawa weusi wasiwe wanakwenda kuchunguliachungulia wakati wazungu wakila na kunywa, Gavana Sir Cameroun akawaundia chama chao cha kuratibu shughuli za weusi za starehe, kwamaneno mengine tunasema AA kilikuwa chama cha walevi.

AA chini Myao mwalimu Cesil Matola akiwa ndie rais wa kwanza, na katibu wake akawa ni yule mateka wa kivita mhamiaji haramu Klest Sykis, na mwekahazina akawa Ally Ramadhan mvuvi mashuhuri mzaramo wa kweli.

Mwaka 1933, Mwalimu Matola alifariki, hivyo nafasi ya urais wa AA ikakaimiwa na Klest mpaka alipokuja kupinduliwa kwa ngumi na mwanae wa kumzaa aitwae Abdul Sykis mwaka 1948. Huyu nae hakushika urais wa AA kwakuwa kichwani alikuwa mbugila yani sifuri, hivyo nafasi hiyo ikashikwa na Daktari msomi Vedasto Kyaruzi, Abdul akabaki kuwa katibu,

Dr Kyaruzi akakaa kudogo kwenye nafsi hiyo kisha kwa hila za gavana, akamhamishia Sengerema hivyo nafasi ya rais wa AA ikakaimiwa na Abdul Sykis mpaa alipokuja msomi mwingine Julius Kambarage Nyerere mwaka 1953 uchaguzi wa Anautoglo Mnazimmoja ya leo.

Ukoo wa Sykis haukuwahi kuchaguliwa kuwa rais ama mwenyekiti wa chama chochote TANGANYIKA mpa hivi leo, zaidi ya kukaimu tu nafasi hizo.

Picture this moving scene. Thirty-one members of the Maryknoll Family in East Africa gather in the Catholic Church at Butiama, 35 miles from Musoma, Tanzania on Saturday, 4 December, 1999: eight lay members of the Maryknoll Mission Association of the Faithful (MMAF); 11 Sisters of the Maryknoll Congregation, and 12 members of the Maryknoll Society (10 priests, one Brother and one seminarian). They join with Mama Maria Nyerere and other relatives and friends to pray for Mwalimu Julius Nyerere, the former President of Tanzania who died on 14 October, 1999. The Principal Celebrant is Art Wille and the homilist John Sivalon. Liz Mach and Gertrude Maley read the Scriptures. The feeling is a family spirit: small, informal, personal and friendly.

It is a day of mourning. With heavy hearts we remember this outstanding Catholic, husband and father, teacher, Founding Father of the Nation and international statesman Julius Kambarage Nyerere. It is a day of celebration. Wearing white vestments and using the Mass of the Resurrection we pray for Nyerere’s final journey to heaven and his joining our ancestors in Christ. A special time in the liturgy are the introductions of the Maryknollers present. It is a touching moment when Lisa Nolan walks over and personally greets Maria before introducing the MMAF members. Mary Reese does the same thing before inviting each Sister to introduce herself. In their introductions many of the priests and Sisters recall a special moment or anecdote in our long relationship with Nyerere. In fact, from Maryknoll’s arrival in Tanzania in 1946 there has always been a warm bond of friendship and collaboration with Nyerere and his family. In his homily Sivalon emphasizes that Julius Nyerere promoted the spirit and practice of the equality of all people at all levels of life. He recalls Nyerere’s simplicity and closeness to the ordinary Tanzanian people. He describes a scene during the viewing of the body of Nyerere at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam. Among the thousands of Tanzanians who patiently wait in line for hours, a woman with a baby on her back, a man on crutches and a simply dressed young boy each walk by the casket, pause a moment, bow and quietly pass on. A moving tribute to a great man of the people! Sivalon presents Mama Maria with a monetary gift from the Maryknoll Family and announces that we are giving the Nyerere family a statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary for the grotto near the family home in Butiama.

Other highlights of the day include prayers at Nyerere’s grave next to the family home and a meal with Maria and other family members. The memorable day concludes with a variety of group photographs with Maria in the picturesque setting of the large rock formations adjacent to the family home.

This, in essence, was to be the history of TANU.

To assist him in the research was the late Dr. Wilbert Kleruu, recently returned from studies in the United States.[/TD]

[TD]Abdulwahid occupied his former office at the TANU headquarters; the one which he had occupied in the 1950s when he was TAA President.

Abdulwahid's personal files, dairies and his late father's papers dating back to the days of the formation of African Association in 1929 were made available to researchers for the first time as primary sources of information.

Abdulwahid's version, analysis, presentation of facts and interpretation of forces at play which led to the rise of nationalism were, however, not acceptable to the TANU leadership.

We shall see in the following pages reasons why Abdulwahid's version of history could not be allowed to flourish.

Abdulwahid abandoned the assignment after being convinced that the new leadership in TANU was not really interested in documenting an authenticated history of Tanganyika but was interested in merely creating a personality cult for President Nyerere.

Dr. Kleruu went ahead with the research and completed the work.

This manuscript remains unpublished, at least in its original form.

The manuscript disappeared from Party archives and was published for the first time in 1971 under a different name after changes had been done by the ‘author' on the original manuscript to prevent detection by the Party.

After the book was published, the Party silently tried to stop the second edition of the book from being published but failed.

The work has now been published several times. The approach, style and analysis of the subject is not very much different from the book on TANU published in 1981 by the Party ideological college."

Safari ya Pili hiyo iligharimiwa na wanatanu mchango mkubwa ukitoka kwa JOHN RUPIA, Katika kuonyesha TANU imejiandaa, ilifanyika dhifa ya Kumuaga Nyerere Kwenda UNO safari hii ya pili ya 22/04/ 1957, alisindikizwa na kina John Rupia mpaka uwanja wa ndege.
