Nilimjibu kuwa Nyerere alikwenda kwa Abdul kwa mambo mawili.

Kwanza ni kuwa Abdul ndiye aliyemleta katika siasa za Dar es Salaam na
ndiye aliyefanya juhudi achaguliwe katika uongozi wa juu wa TAA na TANU.

Pili Abdul kwa miaka ile ya mwanzo ya TANU ndiye aliyekuwa akitegemewa
kwa fikra za kuendesha harakati na kufadhili chama.

Mwisho rafiki yangu aliniomba nimtafutie kipande kile katika kitabu nimrushie.
Hiki hapa chini ndicho kipande chenyewe:

"...soon after the formation of TANU, the United Nations visiting mission came to Tanganyika in August, 1954. By then TANU was not yet registered by the government. The Party received its registration on 30 th of November, 1954 after it had overcome numerous frustrating formalities put forward to it by the government.

The security service began monitoring Nyerere, leader of the independence movement in Tanganyika and later first president of Tanzania, during independence negotiations in London as a result of a request by the Colonial Office.

“The alarmist case for a Home Office Warrant on Nyerere made by successive Colonial Secretaries and accepted by successive Home Secretaries now appears flimsy,” Prof Christopher Andrew, MI5’s official historian, noted in an analysis of the files.

“There was no credible evidence linking Nyerere to subversion. On the contrary, the evidence in his file shows him to have been a devout Catholic as well as a popular leader, profoundly opposed to violence, striving to create a non-racial society.”

Mijadala yetu hii imenisaidia sana.
