Unfortunately for him he cannot cling to power. He has tried but has failed miserably. His oposition is a bunch of warlaord each owning an army. Farmaajo tried to postpone elections and these warlords brought their armies to town and barricaded half of Mogadishu. Somali National army itself splintered into two factions fighting against each other. You cannot push aside your opposition if they own an army. That is the same problem Salva Kiir had. He tried to push aside Riek Machar but Riek Machar had an army and unleashed that army on government soldiers. It is the same situation in Ethiopia where Abby Ahmed tried to isolate the Tigray politicians but these Tigray politicians controlled an army equally as powerful as the govt army. I guess the take home message is this "Don't try to mess with an opposition that controls an army."He was American citizen until recently, why he didnt bring those good American democratic values to fix his shithole country, answer is he is power drunk now and with weak government institutions in Somalia he will cling to office till his demise.
