"The Ukrainian units in the Kursk Region have received a command to be prepared to retreat to Ukraine’s territory," the blogger wrote on his Telegram channel, giving no other details.

Russian army’s control of highway prevents Ukrainian rotations in Kupyansk area — official

LUGANSK, October 15. /TASS/. Russian troops maintain fire control over the road towards the suburbs of Kupyansk in the Kharkyansk area, which allows control over movement of the Ukrainian forces and prevents them from performing a rotation, the head of the Kharkov military-civilian administration, Vitaly Ganchev, told TASS.

"The combat situation in the Kharkov area is still active, I could say. Our fighters are still pushing the enemy in the Svatov-Kupyansk area. Having broken the enemy’s line of defense, we managed to set a fire control over a highway connecting several settlements. We have control over the Kruglyanovka area, which is almost the Kupyansk suburbs, just to the south along the Oskol River," he told the agency.

US unlikely to supply Ukraine with THAAD systems — military analyst

According to Igor Korotchenko, if the THAAD missile defense system "was to be destroyed by the Russian armed forces, it would mean a huge loss of image for the United States"
MOSCOW, October 15. /TASS/. The US is unlikely to supply Ukraine with the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) anti-ballistic missile defense system, military analyst Igor Korotchenko told TASS.

Earlier, the US Defense Department confirmed the delivery of a THAAD missile defense system to Israel to repel a potential Iranian missile attack on the country amid the escalating tensions in the Middle East.

"I can hardly imagine that the Americans will supply Ukraine with THAAD anti-missile systems. The latest data allow us to say that we have an effective means to counter such systems: a reconnaissance-strike complex that allows to detect and destroy the most advanced and traditional Western missile defense systems. If it [the THAAD missile defense system] was to be destroyed by the Russian armed forces, it would mean a huge loss of image for the United States. That's why it seems that the THAAD missile defense systems will not be delivered to Ukraine," the expert said.

According to another military analyst, Mikhail Khodarenok, Ukraine will never receive the expensive THAAD systems for fear of technology leaks. "The THAAD system is a complex that partially has the capabilities even of a strategic anti-missile defense system. Firstly, it is a very expensive complex. And the Ukrainians want to get everything for free. Secondly, the loss of critical technologies is possible. This is what the US side fears. All these weapons that are delivered to Ukraine are being exported anyway. There is no cutting-edge technology in the equipment delivered to Ukraine that is unique to American systems. I don't think it [the THAAD system] will be handed over to Ukraine," he said.

Korotchenko, in turn, pointed out that the Western countries will continue to supply Ukraine with the old versions of the Patriot missile system or the European ISIS-T and NASAMS systems. According to the military analyst, the anti-missile properties of the Patriot system are limited. "The Russian reconnaissance-strike complex allowed to increase the effectiveness of attacks aimed at destroying the US-made Patriot systems in Ukraine," Korotchenko emphasized.

Elite’ Ukrainian troops surrender in Kursk Region – Chechen commander

Many members of the ‘elite’ Ukrainian units that invaded Russia’s Kursk Region often surrender because they are no longer able to fight and want to stay alive, Major-General Apty Alaudinov, the commander of the Akhmat Special Forces from Russia’s Chechen Republic, has said.

In an interview with Russian journalist Vladimir Solovyov on Tuesday, Alaudinov rejected Kiev’s claims that Russian soldiers executed nine Ukrainian service members in Kursk Region, many of whom were drone operators.

The general dismissed the claim as a psyop, arguing that Ukraine “needs to create fake news to discourage its military from surrendering,” as many of its soldiers “openly say they can fight no more.” Despite these efforts, he added, Ukrainian soldiers “often decide to surrender anyway.”

“What’s interesting is that the units that they considered to be the most unassailable and elite, they are also beginning to slowly lean toward surrendering, as they want to stay alive,” he said.

According to Alaudinov, Russia is ready to spare even those who serve in the Aidar Battalion or Azov units, which have been accused of having neo-Nazi sympathies, if they lay down their arms.

Ukraine’s battlefield situation ‘critical’ – ex-NATO official

Ukraine will soon have to abandon the key Donbass city of Pokrovsk as its defenses slowly crumble under Russian attacks, General Harald Kujat, a former chief of staff of the German armed forces and chairman of the NATO Military Committee, believes.

In an interview with journalist and podcaster Flavio von Witzleben on Sunday, Kujat, who chaired the NATO Military Committee between 2002 and 2005, suggested that Ukraine’s plan to divert Russian units away from Donbass via its Kursk incursion has failed because Russia has not had to curtail its offensive in the region.

“Ukraine originally intended… that the Russians would pull combat troops back [to Kursk Region], but this has now turned out to be to its own detriment because the Russians are now tying up the urgently needed Ukrainian reserves that are now missing in Donbass,” he said, describing the Kursk offensive as an “all-in action.”

As a result, Russia is slowly advancing in Donbass at a pace consistent with the desire to minimize losses, Kujat believes. Russia has made gains near Pokrovsk, Kujat noted, describing the city, located some 50km northwest of Donetsk, as “of crucial importance” due to its logistical significance.

“Ukraine is still holding its position but it is only a matter of time before this city falls… The situation of the Ukrainian armed forces is critical and it is becoming more and more critical day by day and this is despite the massive material and financial support from the West,” he said.

Ukrainian forces near Kupyansk face encirclement — retired Ukrainian officer

MOSCOW, October 15. /TASS/. Some Ukrainian forces near the town of Kupyansk in eastern Ukraine could be surrounded, said retired Colonel Oleg Starikov, a former member of the Security Service of Ukraine.

"In the area of Kupyansk, between Peschanoye and Borovaya, the Russian Armed Forces are catching us in a pocket," the analyst said in a video on his YouTube account.

Starikov also said Russian forces, if they cut behind Ukrainian forces near Kupyansk, could then continue their advance toward Kharkov.
